I'd love to see a tuneup type fight just to see how he comes out of it health wise. If he looks horrible there'd be no reason for a ggg fight. but if he looks a little like the old maravilla I see no reason not to take a fight against GennadyComment

His last fight was supposed to be a tuneup.Comment

GGG will do what chavez jr did in round 12, but alot earlier...catch martinez with a big shot and end it....Comment

GGG has underrated defense and a good chin..i could see martinez landing some shots of course, but i think the strong pressure, power and youth of GGG would overwhelm the older and injury ridden martinez..

Dude had surgery before the fight and I felt he came back too soon, then broke his hand against Murray. I ain't tryna rush him and have all sorts of excuses made if he losses. I'm trying see if he still had it against a decent tuneup is allComment

Just a thought
I just watched again the Murray-Martinez fight and I just cannot understand how someone can honestly say that Murray beat up and clearly won that fight. Was there a previous Martinez-Murray fight that they're referring to? Because the one that took place in Buenos Aires was a close fight where the British boxer did absolutely nothing during the first five rounds. Murray then won the next five that were close rounds. It wasn't like he beat up Martinez like Maidana beat up Khan in the 10th and 11th rounds of their fight (that to me is a beat up) and Martinez totally won the championship rounds and he had Murray hurt. If you look at the 12th round Murray is holding on for dear life. Is that how you expect to win a world crown? Backing up and holding on in the last two rounds? Do you guys remember the second Margarito vs Cotto fight? Margarito with his eye completely closed was backing up Cotto all over the ring and Cotto was on his bike? Did Murray have that attitude in the Martinez fight? No, he was thinking about how his countrymen Barker and Macklin had been knocked out in the eleventh and he did not want the same destiny. Martinez was the only one showing the heart of a champion in that fight.Comment

Golovkin's an unnecessary risk for a man who's about to bow out. Sergio is most likely looking for a couple of decent paydays for the retirement fund.
He's already stated that he wont fight Murray again because he's a 'dirty fighter' who doesn't deserve a rematch. Which is a cheap shot of an excuse.
But fighting the English is still profitable for an Argentinian. The islanders of the Falklands/Malvinas held a referendum in March and voted to remain British much to the displeasure of many Argentinians, including Alicia Castro the ambassador to Britian who's just reffered to Cameron (or his remarks) as "so ****** and inefficient".
Political tensions often provide a profitable context to a tear up. So Darren Barker rematch fits the bill. Probably in Argintina. It's doubtful Martinez will want to risk a bias decision that isn't in his favour or a plate of Big Terry O'Conner's home town cooking.Comment
