The analogy is, a resume greatly enhanced by fights over a single guy with much more depth to his resume. Like you said, old MAB is JMM's 2nd best win. It was a struggle and he went down. That version of MAB is nowhere to be found on Pac's resume, and often called a cherrypick.

the comparison is all the stronger since h2h Jones was much more dominant over MAB, while in career stakes it's the opposite.

So a KO win over Pacquiao is a legacy enhancer. Tell me more captain.

Not just the KO win, the 4 fights. I mean, everyone here says he's an ATG, so do I. Now erase Pac from his resume, and ask is he even 1st ballot on that resume. I don't think so.

Take Jack o Brien off of Ketchel's resume.

That's before my time, and yours probably. No worries, I'm just showing you the difference between a guy with a deep resume and a guys whose acclaim comes from being this other guy's foil. relatively speaking of course, I still think JMM's resume without Pac might get him to the HOF eventually

Marquez is both, but I think he could have fought different/better fighters than some he has fought.

It's before my time but it's OK to read.

Marquez's resume is quite deep actually. He's beaten decent fighters at every weight besides 140

And you still have a guy who was a world champion in 3 weight classes and was the lineal Lightweight champion in his late 30's and he would have a record of 54-4 if you remove Pac. Still not seeing exactly what nonsense you are trying to prove here other then you are holding him to a very very very high standard that only like 4 other boxers coud have possiably achieved. Seriously by the standards you would use to admit someone into the hall of fame you can go ahead and wipe out 98% of all the current fighters in the Hall of fame.

If I didn't say yes he wouldn't be one of my all time favorite fighters to watch. This guy has been in some amazing battles.
