He is probably underrated as things stand today.

lmao Calzaghe wouldnt even fight Glenn Johnson. Ducked him three times! He had to wait til Roy Jones and BHop lost speed.

And where the hell was Lennox when Bowe Holyfield Tyson abd Foreman on top in the early 90s? Hiding in Europe

One of the dumbest comments I've ever read.

Bowe is commonly known as "Chicken Bowe" for dumping his WBC Title belt in the bin rather than face Lennox Lewis.

Don King paid Lennox Lewis millions of dollars to stay away from Mike Tyson in the 90s. They wanted to face the older, seemingly more vulnerable Holyfield instead.....that didn't work out too well.

            how is Roy overrated?
if anything, he's underrated; this thread gets made a lot
Roy somehow isn't great because he didn't fight the Europeans
Roy was the man during his era and wrecked himself on the scales
even when he was older and past prime he was untouchable until then

He was untouchable that's why he didn't fight them, makes perfect sense. NOT.

Calzaghe ducked Roy not the other way around.

RJJ has wins over Hopkins, Toney, Pazienza, McCallum, Griffin, Hill, Ruiz, Tarver.

He didn't truly get beat until he was past prime.

Bottom line is, he's not overrated.

Roy was under no pressure to fight them
if he was, it's a different story, but he wasn't
never a time where his credibility was riding on those fights
he was recognized as the best and deservedly so
Roy didn't have to go outta his way to fight those guys
it woulda obviously helped him if he did
but it doesn't hurt him that he didn't
he just can't get credit for woulda/shoulda/coulda fights
who ranks highest outta Roy, Collins, Eubank, Watson, and Benn?

Roy Jones is no bum, but yes he did cherry pick fights when he was in his prime just like how Floyd Mayweather is doing now, HBO offered him a nice contract where he got to pick and choose his opponent so you have to blame HBO for that. Also he did duck Dariusz, Benn, and Eubank, also Mclellan would have beat him bad.

Roy only started becoming a warrior who will fight anyone when he got knocked silly, its weird seeing Roy fighting in Russia, Australia and overseas now, when he never was willing to do it before. And its weird how he is willing to take lower money to make fights and not make it difficult.

This is why I wished Floyd got knocked out already, maybe it would make him brave and willing to fight anyone, instead of a difficult diva.

Roy should have just retired after he beat Tarver the first time in that controversial win like how Lennox retired after the Vitali win.
