i said floyd..top 10 not top 5... hes done more than whitaker
What is your reason Floyd is your top 10 of all time? Let me guess....because he beat the following fighters.
Oscar by SD < (Pacquiao TKO 8)
Hatton by KO 10 < (Pacquiao KO 2)
Mosley by UD < (Pacquiao KD3 UD)
Cotto by UD < (Pacquiao TKO 12)
Marquez by weight cheating < (Pacquiao 2-1-1)
or Maybe when he destroyed these ATGs sucker punched ATG#9 Ortiz, HOF fighter Guerrero, The Great Baldomir and the Supreme Gatti.

Dude, if you have to ask that question then you dont know the history of boxing,,,,,
pernell was a boxing genius
If you really...I mean REALLY think that Whittaker was boxing genius-are you sure you mean "genius"- I suggest you look up some fights of Nicolino Locche. I mean on Youtube as well as on BoxRec. Also Duilio Loi, who beat Carlos Ortiz twice. These guys when neccessary could shift up several gears. Thee guys had over 100 fights and didn't even lose a genuine handful. Never KO'd, maybe a cut eye or something. That's all.
Whitaker good as he was, might last against them both because they had only a few KO's but would have literally NO chance of winning against either. Mayweather would have even less chance because Whitaker was quite a bit better than he.
And there's hardly a single soul on this site who's ever heard of them.

Reason: to add last sentence.

I have seen them,, yes they were great, not going to debate that,,,
but over the last 30-35 years, Pernell was a boxing genius of that era,,,
I was just replying when the asked why pernell is considered an ATG, which is crazy to even ask,,
Pernell is an ATG, i think he could hang with anyone, especially at lightweight,,
Now where he ranks in terms of ATG, that is a whole other discussion, one much better suited to be done in the boxing history forum, not in trollville NSB...
But there can be no question that pernell was a boxing genius and an ATG, just where to rank him is the question

You could be right although I don't think so. Anyway, considering just the last 30 years, There are Holyfield, Lewis, Bowe, And Chris Byrd as well a a few of their opponents who, against others would be regarded as terrific. And that's only in the heavyweights. There are 16 other classes, think Ricardo Lopez, Carbajal, and a few others at the other extreme. Although I don't think much of Oscar as a person, at his peak, there's no way he'd lose to Mayweather, and the fact that Whitaker did so well against him is a big plus for him although Trinidad broke him up badly. And some of the guys he faced like Quartey, Trinidad, Mosley, etc. then there were Oba Carr, Yory Boy Campas, and others and that's only 147, not to mention Macho Camacho and JC Chavez etc.etc. really heavy 130lbers.
