    No.

Sturm is No.4. They'll be open to fighting Murray and Geale (#3) and if Chavez (#5) wants it he can probably get it too given the payday he'll bring.

    Pretty much.

$300k in the UK is only £191k, pre-tax. It's really not that much to be taking one of the best fighters in the sport. Hearn isn't blind, he says Gennady is one of the best.

Barker would and will draw thousands back home. Geale drew 10,000 in his last fight in Australia. I have no idea why that fight took place in the US.

This. It's about time HBO started to put their faith in Golovkin as a future star and paid his opponents accordingly. If Stevens is getting $350k, a marketable champion in Barker should be getting at least twice that.
How much did Barker earn for this last fight? Anyone know? Unless they plan on paying GGG double also I don't think it makes sense to pay his opponents 400k more than what he may receive... I mean the performance from Barker and Geale I think they're honestly some of the weakest at 160, technically and physically.

He's a world champion now, his marketability has gone up tenfold. The British public will turn out in their thousands for his fights and he'll be paid in pounds worth 1.57 of the dollar.

HBO should recognise what they have in Golovkin and pay accordingly. No top contender is willing to take relative peanuts to take on what their promoters see as one of the top 5 fighters in the entire sport. The secret's out, people know how good Golovkin is, HBO should understand that or accept the Curtis Stevens of the world.

Boxing is a business and Golovkin is either an asset worth investing in, or he isn't. Over to HBO...

it's not like he's shy about it. lots of promotors are honest about golovkin. the guy is not only very good, he's a superhuman puncher. credit to gabe rosado, who is still a commodity post golovkin. lots of other guys are looking to be pretty ruined (proksa, ishida, ouma, etc.)

fighting golovkin and losing is different from losing to floyd mayweather. you don't get paid as much, and you get your ass kicked. you can only take so many beatings like that in your life.

Barker would get destroyed by GGG. He stands straight on and he just gets hit too much. He has a big heart but when you are out cold what use is that? He should def fight GGG at some point but I can see how it wouldn't be his first fight.

I also think GGG is over-rated at the moment, he beat Macklin but that guy was made for him.

Barker wasn't the mandatory challenger so they would have been forced to accept options to get the fight against Geale.

This isn't the 1980's with Don King or the 50's with Blinky Palermo giving options isn't the norm. K2 or Golden Boy don't make Golovkin or Quillin opponents give options only Shaw with with a sinking stable. It shows the lengths Barker was willing to go and sacrifice some control over his own career just to take on what he thought was the safest option.

Did you just say K2 don't make opponents accept options?
