"Iron chin?" Can't agree. JMM has incredible recuperative powers, agree with the OP on that, but his chin is no where near "iron" in my view. To get the iron label bombs and bullets have to bounce off of you like they were spit wads. Marquez goes down hard when he takes a squared up homerun shot.
Juan Manuel Marquez has an Iron chin

He has six losses on his record but how many legit losses does he have?
He lost his 1st pro fight by DQ. Does anyone know why he was DQ'd?
His second loss is to Freddie Norwood. Was this a legit loss?(i have not seen Norwood and John fight but would appreciate opnions as whether they are legit losses)
Third loss was Chris John. Was this a legit loss?
Fourth loss was Manny. I actually scored it for JMM (i know many will disagree).
Fifth loss was FMJ. I KNOW he got dominated. Many circumstances led to the domination. However, in a rematch I think it will be a much better fight but will have the same result.
Sixth loss was against Manny. I scored it decisively for Marquez. If I remember correctly I had it 9 to 3 when scoring it live. Then after trying hard to give Manny rounds the closest i had it was 7-5.
What say you?Comment

I think he does have an iron chin, not the best in the business, but iron nonetheless.
Nacho once said in an old interview that JMM was he greatest overachiever because he wasn't blessed with great foot or hand speed, especially foot (it's the reason he was never crazy about the Floyd fight, with good reason, lol). Becasue his feet were slower he constantly anticipates to atone for it. But if he guesses wrong he is vulnerable to feet being out of position, hence flash knockdowns.
I woulnd't argue with Nacho, and it explains why he does appear to recuperate so well......he usually isn't hurt, just caught in a bad stance.Comment

Believe it or not the one and only time JMM had me worried for bieng dropped was against Katsidis. It took him longer than usual to get up he looked almost done, I was frightened I thought that was going to go down as a tko L.Comment

yeah that was the only time I ever thought he was going to be finished, that was the hardest shot I ever seen him take flush, all of Katsidis weight was into that shot and it landed flush and dropped him like a sack of bricks.
Amazing he recovered.
But people also forget that JMM gets hit a lot, scrubs hit him a lot too, he is def an overachiever because he has a lot of flaws as well defensively. He never covers up or clinches to avoid shots mainly side steps and steps back and counters, he is an offensive counter puncher that's most of his defense is off of counters backing up, he gets hit a lot so his chin is iron to me with how often he gets hit in fights he still never been stopped at all.Comment

I agree theres a big Difference between how Marquez Lara and Gamboa get up from their kd's than how let's say Khan it's all about legs and composure getting kd out of nowherre has to do more with balance than with chin the damage that you absorb and causes on you now that's the chin and thats why when Khan gets up he starts doing the bambi impressions.Comment

I can never get how he got up from the second fight knock down. This is why I found these so called steroid accusation laughable, if JMM was going to get accuse of taking steroid then their second fight where Pac put him down with that short crispy left hand would be the moment where the light would go off in people's heads, I couldn't believe he got up from that KD. and not not got up but went on to kick ass.Comment

Roy Jones Jr said it best, when Larry Merchant said how many straight lefts can Marquez take from Pacquiao and not even blink. Roy said its cuz he is very focused, and calm in there. Always thinking
But damn those 2 lefts Pacquiao hit him with in the 2nd fight, the one that knocked him down, and the one that staggered him, did not faze him...he ain't got no worries!! lmao he just knows how to keep cool during panicComment

His chin is definitely decent. KD or not, the fact is he's taken some serious flush shots, not only was he just not knocked out like many would be, he usually recovers often to win the round.
I think a lot of it is also his focus like someone else mentioned. He's become accustom of how to behave when in trouble like that, he know's how to handle it and even turn it around.
You can tell in the eyes the guys that take even a flush shot, and just look like it's undressing their focus and making them sloppy.
Khan in many fights, and specifically Cleverley last night are examples, sinking lower then troubled largely distracted. Opposite to JMM.Comment
