Clev is quite clearly the best on Kovalev's resume. and that is by quite a stretch.
But that's not saying a lot is it?

And I don't think I ever hyped up Kovalev's resume so not quite sure what that's got to do with it.

My point is that Cleverly has fought no-one of note really, no-one at THAT level. His resume has been poor, he fell into believing the hype and he got blown out tonight.

Fact is Cleverly just isn't a world class boxer and never will be.

Not quite sure what point you're trying to make now though if I'm honest lol.

Here's a source regarding the fight being called off: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/boxing/13440189

Braehmer, 32, was due to face Cleverly, 24, at London's 02 Arena on Saturday, but a cut eye suffered in training on 8 May has failed to heal.
The German won the WBO belt in 2009 and has made one defence but could now be stripped of his title.
If so, Cleverly - the interim champion - will be awarded the title by default.
I know the course of events. And it wasn't only the one time Braehmer dropped out of the fight. He did it twice. The body did a respectable thing by stripping him of the title, simple as that.

Still, what I said was that Cleverly has beaten 3 #1 ranked contenders now. Which is more than what Kovalev had done before Cleverly. Simple as that. Their resume's were close, but I would give the edge to Cleverly. And that has nothing to do with how he won his title.

I agree with what you said, but he never looked greatly impressive in winning, he showboated way too much against Bellew, struggled against a late replacement in Mohammedi who wasn't a very good fighter. That's the problem, and whilst this doesn't affect the names on his resume, it doesn't leave a great impression whilst Kovalev has been looking impressive knocking out guys who are ranked close to the level of Murat, Mohammedi, Krasniqi.

These sort of threads don't have quite the same impact when the guy beforehand acknowledges the possibility of a loss. Quite a difference between that and LarryX making a thread about how Andre Berto was going to "maul" Robert Guerrero.
