Don't get me wrong, Trout was a good win, but there was absolutely nothing ground breaking about it.......NOTHING.

Like I said, I'm not even sure Trout can beat Molina, Kirkland, Lara, Angulo or even Andrade.

It was a good win for Canelo, and a MUCH needed step up in competition, but when you start talking "lineal", I can't take it seriously
It was because of the belts, Trout had one, Canelo had one, now Floyd has one, that is their basis for justifying lineage not really how fans rate the danger of opponents.

So if Mathew Hatton defeated the likes of Baldomir, Josesito Lopez, Alphonzo Gomez and squeezed by Trout, you're saying Mayweather could beat him for the Lineal title?

Like I said, the WBC is a joke... Anyone with a brain knows this is a money fight and has been building up since day one. Nothing to do with actual champions earning their road to the top the old fashion way

But I get what you're saying.... Pacquiao is rightfully the ex JMW champ of the world. Let's not even count this catchweight with Canelo, it's still for the JMW championship

Because they are still the top biggest draws in the sport. If they fight all eyes would be on boxing.

Out of all the tough guys at 154, it's weird when the standing champs are Ishe Smith, Mayweather and Canelo.

Mayweather has only fought twice in the division in the last 6 years. Canelo has only fought 1 real guy at 154; maybe 2 if you count that British guy years ago........ Ishe Smith

The real fighters in the division are Angulo, Kirkland (despite inactivity due to legal trouble), Lara, Molina (hate his guts), etc...

If Mayweather is the Lineal champ, it would be the best lineal championship ever purchased. That's just how it is.

Theoretically if Trout had the belt when Hatton beat him? yes it could happen and create a lineage just look at Danny Garcia he beat a shot blown up FW and Chinny Khan coming off of a loss to become lineal champ at 140.

The fight lost its luster but come on be real everyone here would watch it and would be interested.

It probably isn't realistic and never would happen but fans still would love to see, past prime or not.

He will be lineal. I don't even think anyone out there disputes this.

Bullschit, he won't be Lineal anything...

Everyone will dispute it, only a small group will defend it
