As long as there are idiots in the media who keep asking Pacquiao or Mayweather about the fight I don't see these discussions ever ending.

For one thing, Mayweather would be criticized for taking this fight considering Pac has just been in a brutal KO loss.

That's because most of the media know NOTHING about boxing, they are casuals.
Look at Skip Bayless and Stephen A.

Skip didn't even know who Cotto, Rios or Canelo were.
Stephen A does not know the name of the last few Pacquiao opponents so he uses his study sheet.

So no wonder the hype is still going, instead of them bringing guys on that KNOW boxing like Dan Rafeal or Teddy Atlas.

That's like asking "When Mayweather reserved to fight before he went to jail and issued the challenge to Pacquiao why did Arum say Manny cut would not heal in time and that he needed to build a stadium but wanted to take Floyd's reservation for another Marquez fight when he thought Mayweather was going in." To me, the fight was supposed to be sealed in 2009 and done in 2010. Manny had 1000 reasons why not to agree to the cut of, of the random blood and urine tests which made no sense. Should have stuck to his guns, but guess he didn't like getting put to sleep by Marquez who he probably thinks cheated him. Manny just solidified Mayweather's claim for fair fights. But yet Floyd is the one scared? Is Manny scared of Rios? Or does he just want a fair fight? Questions never answered by Manny's fans. Mayweather has made more than 40MIL for one fight but Manny has NEVER made 40MIL in one fight, so why give him an even share? That's not business. If you want to say because Manny was/is popular then so was Hatton but Manny almost let the fight go because he felt like he should get the bigger share.

Mayweather obviously doesn't regard the fight as an opportunity to showcase his skills, make his fans happy. He doesn't even regard it his as a business move considering it is still the most lucrative fight both fighters will ever have in their entire careers.

Mayweather is about to break PPV records vs Saul Alvarez, I really see no point for him to dwell on Manny Pacquiao when he got Matthyse, Garcia, and possibly Martinez and 3G as future opponents. Who Manny got.......Bradley and Marquez......again? We've all seen that already haven't we? And to be technical we've already seen Pac vs slow flat footed one dimensional brawler (Rios) already as well.
