Plain and simple. I can appreciate defense, offense, and overall aggressiveness..but some one who uses his face as his defense? Come'on bra! You are on the wrong sport!

Floyd, Rigo, and others just dont get enough credit! They will take 90% of all boxers to school!

    My .02!
If what you say is true, how do fighters like Ricardo Mayorga become champions?

Technical brilliance is just one aspect of the sport, some us love it because of the heart the guys display, that's why some prefer brawlers. I respect any fighter greatly but if you say you'd rather watch Andre Ward than a Gatti fight, I'll try to believe you. Peace.

        ****** thread

boxing has a lot in between of that so called sweet science (whatever that means to you) and brawling.

you're missing a lot about boxing if you're stuck with just comparing those two styles.

just take it as you love food, others like sweet and sour, some like the hot stuffs etc etc....if not.....

you who advocates or love the sweet science side of boxing may find yourself in a brawl....

          and that will be ironic

Exactly! This is like saying you know nothing about hip hop or are not a true hip hop fan if you dont like every single hip hop artists along with every style of hip hop. LOL.

If I like your music I will buy it. If not I wont. Same for boxing. If I'm a fan of yours as a boxer then I will pay to see you perform. If not then I wont. Doesnt make me any less of a boxing fan.

I agree with you, but don't expect to get much support for your opinion on this message board.

I agree but we need brawls as well, I mean just look at Rigo - Donaire. Sure us, boxing fans enjoyed the master performance from Guillermo but usual fans fell asleep after round 3. This sport needs fighters like Rios.

And also history proved us many times that you don't have to be slick, defensive fighter to be succesful: Hagler, Marciano, Holyfield, Tyson.

Boxing is all about defence. Butt's about offense as well, don forget that OP.
