As it relates to the sparring partners issue, it's quite simple: Canelo cannot find sparring partners who will truly prepare him for Floyd. It's not just about style, although that is an issue. It's about all of the intangibles Floyd brings into the ring (intelligence, ability to adapt, etc.).
Floyd, on the other hand, has fought and beat men naturally larger and "stronger" than he is. It's reasonable to argue that Canelo is the largest and the strongest, and that's what makes the fight so interesting. If Canelo is going to win, he has to prove that size matters. If he cannot simply overpower Floyd and hurt him, there is little reason to believe he has the skill to outbox Floyd for 12 rounds.
All Floyd needs to do is come into the ring in tip-top shape with the quickness and reflexes he had in the Guerrero fight. At this point, there's no reason to believe he won't.
Come September 14, it's basically up to Canelo to make the fight and see if his size advantage is actually an advantage. If it isn't, and he can't hurt Floyd or gasses out, he will be no more difficult for Floyd than Guerrero was, even if he weighs 170-plus. In fact, if Canelo comes in heavy and his strategy doesn't bear fruit, it's not inconceivable that Floyd could KO the kid.
How so? There are at least 7 or more posts in this thread alone dedicated solely to the fact that Canelo is beating up on junior welterweights in sparring. I have seen no proof of that at all. Has he fought smaller guys before? Sure. Did he not just fight and defeat the WBO junior middleweight champion Trout in his last fight also though?
People want to downplay his skill level which is fine but unless people starting putting facts behind their statements, it just seems like baseless hating to me....or trolling, either way. I have noticed a lot of very new accounts, must mean people are getting things setup for a worst case scenario.
