Top 3 British fighters at present

Are you serious? Groves? I'd rate him miles below the likes of Quigg, Frampton, Khan and just about any other legit Brit fighter out there. He has skill and potential but his resume is thread bare.
My top 3:
Froch
Haye
Burns
Burns gets underrated a lot, imo he is the best at 135 and I hope Hearn promotes him well enough to get the big fights to prove it.
On the verge of that top 3 are Khan, Quigg and Brook. 2 of those guys deserve a WT shot asap! Khan is working his way back into contention for a title shot but I see his next few fights being his last at a high level.
Frampton and Groves are battling as top contenders but based on skill set and resume I have Frampton ahead. Then somewhere below there is Tyson Fury.Comment

Agreed, Cleverly should be ranked higher simply because he is going up against a very dangerous puncher who can, for all his limited baility, end a fight in a heart beat. Barker would still be rated highly for beating a legitimate world champion in Geale.
In my first post I forgot to mention Macklin and Murray who I would rate above Groves/Frampton and Quigg come to think of it.
I could probably list at least 20 Brit fighters who are world class or verging on world class.Comment

Case for ranking Groves below Quigg and Frampton? Imo they are pretty equal in their status at the moment, Quigg and Groves possibly a little ahead of Frampton. Are you serious? Groves? I just think Geale is good but not great. He'd probably get beaten by most of the top middleweights, and has already proven that he comes up short vs the second best as in Sturm, Mundine etc. Most people think Kovalev is the real deal, and Cleverly already has a better resume than Barker imo so he should rank higher.Agreed, Cleverly should be ranked higher simply because he is going up against a very dangerous puncher who can, for all his limited baility, end a fight in a heart beat. 20 is a big stretch. 10 possibly world level or around:
Froch
Haye
Khan
Fury
Brook
Burns
Frampton
Quigg
Groves
Chisora
- Struggle to find more I would classify as "there or thereabouts".Comment

And 20 guys here:

Khan
Fury
Brook
Burns
Frampton
Quigg
Groves
Chisora
DeGale
Bellew
Cleverly
Macklin
Murray
Barker
Saunders
Gavin
Rose
Selby
There's a few other fighters I could have named too. Out of the 10 I added to you list, I'd say Barker, Murray, Macklin were all world class, their last few fights operating at the highest level.
DeGale has been on and off but I think he gives the lower echelon of guys at 168 a very good fight, beating a fair few of them, so he's verging on being world class.
Clev and Bellew have their biggest tests coming up and we'll see how good they really are but they've done away wit ha number of domestic and european level opponents, so verging on world class.
And I think the likes of Selby, Gavin, Saunders and possibly Rose are about to take that next big step too.Comment

The ones I bolded are not world level or close to it yet, though they may be in the future. I can agree to the others somewhat, but I don't think Bellew has really mixed it at world level yet, unless you count Cleverly, who at the time was given a belt.Geale beat them didn't he?

But I did forget about some of the middleweights (I knew I missed someone!). 15 is probably a good number at this stage, and even that is a heck of a good pool for world class fighters imo.Comment
