i respect anyone who gets in the ring, especially fighters who are able to reach the top level. it takes so much hard work and sacrifice to do so, you need to fight through so much adversity as well.

some fighters i respect more than others, hopkins is one. for the way he turned his life around at a relatively advanced age for a young fighter. the way he became an atg without having the most talent, but through hard work and dedication. he mastered his craft in a way fighters dont do anymore, which is why he is still successful way past his physical prime. just doing what hes doing at nearly 50 is incredible.

also, for a fighter to make history like he did at MW only to be robbed of his crown after all those years, TWICE! and then get robbed again for his 175lb crown only to come back stronger each time and beat even better fighters than the ones he got robbed against.

paul williams is another, never seen anyone respond to adversity that well. his career, his dream and his legs were taken from him, all in one tragic accident. yet he isnt bitter at all, he doesnt even seem upset. he just keeps rolling with the punches and makes the best of any situation. you ave to respect such mental toughness.

others include JMM, floyd, ward, pacquiao, rigo, bradley, mares etc.

if i went back in time the list would be too long, back then people were just more respectable in general imo. not just fighters.

Floyd mayweather, never ducked no one, always fought the best available option, stayed humble throughout his career, has nothing but respect for the legends of the sport, never tries to elevate himself to the stature of the greats, model human being outside the ring. Perfect example and role model to young fans everywhere.

one guy I always respected and I don't think he's been mentioned here is Frank Bruno, he took on the best heavies of his era, he wasn't good enough to beat most of them but he always gave it his all and went to war with Tyson. He was a real man.

Fighters I really respect are the ones that came back from defeat and overcame adversity.

My favorite fighter of all times, Muhammad Ali, takes the cake in most aspects, but there are also sides of him that were nasty and spiteful, which to new fans are mostly overlooked. For that reason, Frazier is one I respect more in terms of personality and also one I had a tremendous amount of respect for.

Currently I've got to go with Carl Froch and Mikkel Kessler. Two warriors who fight the best.

you do have to respect floyd though. what he has accomplished in boxing is nothing short of extraordinary and it takes a tremendous amount of character to do so. the discipline, the dedication, the sacrifices.. you have to respect that.

you have to respect the fact that hes one of the all time greats and the best of his time. also, no matter if you want to admit it or not he has taken on a lot of tough opponents, this should be obvious but somehow ppl manage to pretend otherwise.

finally lets keep in mind he has shown a lot of toughness in the ring too, another thing ppl like to pretend isnt true.

mayweather deserves as much respect as anyone in the game right now.

I respect every boxer that has the guts too put the hard in work in for days, weeks, months even years then step in the ring and lay it all on the line. I respect floyds talent, anyone who doesn't 'don't no **** about boxing'. But the things I wrote in my post are things I don't respect about 'money may'. I don't respect theses attributes in any fighter, it's just 'pretty boy' does all these undesirable things in abundance.
