If anything, black people are quick to overly give props to whites and other non blacks who show the slightest but of appreciation for what we do. The reality is that if Eminem were black he'd be just another good rapper instead of the highest selling rapper of all time. His monumental success is due to his skin color, not despite of it. There is absolutely nothing........NOTHING that Lupe does that Em or Jay couldn't do, or any of the other greats. Lupe deserves more props than he gets, but you put him around in the late 90's/early 00's, let alone the early and mid 90's, he'd be just another emcee. The fact that over half of the mainstream hip hop today is garbage, makes Lupe look pretty good.

Except I don't listen to any Hip Hop from this era at all. I only listen to a VERY select few and Lupe is one of them. I mostly listen to 90's Hip Hop and trust me that imo Lupe is lyrically better then both of them. When it comes to pure lyrics he is better then them both mainly talking about Lupe's earlier work back in 2005/6/7. Its really just an honest opinion. Jay-Z and EM are in my favorites list but damn are they overrated as hell. They def are greats but my ears work perfectly fine.
