First off, Pirog is about retired, he's not top 10. Sergio is gonna be put in the corner next year, fight GGG or vacate the lineal belt. Quillin is not fighting him, but that's just 1 of the remaining 9 top tenners. Maybe some of these guys step up, possibly Geale, maybe Murray at some point, NDam might.

More importantly, at 160 he's within the striking range of both 168, and the much more lucrative 154. He can either wait for the SWWs to move up, maybe CW, or go all the way down at 154, if worthwhile.

I still can't figure out why Gennady is pursuing a Stevens fight. Stevens never beat a top ten contender and isn't even ranked in the top 15 in the WBA. GGG needs some meaningful wins like the Macklin fight. Fighting more easy fights like his other defences will do nothing towards making him a star.

Enough with all the fringe contenders.

Because almost no one else would fight him while Stevens claimed he would. Mora is the other guy who is interested in the fight.

GGG isn't pursuing the Stevens fight but in most cases Managers, Trainers and Promoters "bring a fighter along" to build the career. This however should NOT be the case in GGG's career for 2 reasons..1. He's ready NOW! and 2. He's NOT getting any younger. The fact still remains the same - The Elite Fighters are and will duck him BIG TIME because they are too concerned about their own fighting record and legacy and they clearly understand that by fighting GGG they risk getting KTFO! The second string fighters are willing to step up because they know its a good pay day that they would never get otherwise. The Boxing Game has changed - NO longer are the days when The Elites would fight each other without hesitation....Ali vs Smoking Joe, Forman, Norton, Holmes etc etc or Hagler vs. Hearns, Sugar Ray Leonard, Duran etc etc. The list goes on and on but not in todays fighting circle.
