I've not really paid attention to wilder. Seems like that will change. I wish the heavyweight division was deeper in talent, just seems to lack excitement.
Deontay Wilder destroys Sergei Liakhovich in 1st round KO

Not that the fight wouldn't be a step-up, but I wouldn't necessarily be impressed if he blasts out either guy. Mitchell will be in trouble by the first flush shot that lands, and Arreola will most likely absorb a tremendous beating.Comment

Wilder is the truth, be afraid, very afraid!!!!!Unbeaten heavyweight talent Deontay Wilder (29-0, 29 KO’s) scored his 29th straight KO win with a 1st round knockout win over former WBO heavyweight champion Sergei Liakhovich (25-6, 16 KO’s) on Friday night at the Fantasy Springs Casino, in Indio, California, USA.
The 6’7″ Deontay nailed Liakhovich with a big right hand that drove him backwards from the force of the sledgehammer blow. Deontay added another right hand, and then put the coup de grace with a tremendous right hand to the head that sent Liakhovich down on the canvas. Liakhovich stayed down for a long time before getting up.
After Liakhovich hit the canvas, he laid on the canvas kicking his legs in the air in a knockout spasm. He was seriously hurt from the last right hand to the head that he took.
No one has ever knocked Liakhovich out like that before during his career.
In winning the fight, Deontay keeps his WBC Continental Americas heavyweight title.Comment

Man I cant wait to see him against the Arreola-Mitchell winner. I think the winner of that should get Chisora or the loser of Pulev-Thompson.

I will be more so than I am now. I know Mitchell is chinny and lacks in the boxing department... so with Wilder, it'll be who'll crack first. He never had to deal with anybody as big as Wilder.
For Arreola, it's if he can get inside an interrupt his airspace.
I don't think Mitchell gets by him... Wilder gets past Arreola... I'll finally be impressed with himComment

Wilder is being brought along the right way. This was predictable but a good measuring stick to see if he was ready to take the next step with so little experience. Nice to have an exciting fighter at heavyweight. Hopefully he continues to progress.Comment

He has first rate power so that can take him a long way at heavy but if Arreloa can take the power he will probably land big on Wilder at some point. With Arreola the question is always will he get outboxed and that isn't going down against Wilder so I would like Arreola's chances not to mention this would be the quick way back to the top for him so I would expect him as prepared as he could be.
That is a real test for WilderComment

Wilder just has to land cleanly on Arreola's nose like Stiverne did. That was a huge turning point for Stiverne. I'd never seen Arreola's punch output so low. He barely took risks after that because of the pain of being hit in the broken nose.Comment

Well I am a big fan of Wilder and think he can get the job done but I think there is big risk in that fight for him and if the odds were correct (like +500 or better) I would probably bet on Arreola.
Wilder wins that fight though and I like his chances a lot going forward against most guys.Comment
