You have to take into consideration that it is the first rd in Marquez's case. Morales had already taken a hell of a beating, so bad that I was beginning to fear for him. Just look at the post fight pics. Marquez didn't look nearly as bad as Morales after 12. Morales didn't argue either. If a ref would've stopped the Marquez fight, there would have been many complaints from Marquez and his corner not to mention the fans.

If Marquez had the blueprint to beat Pacquiao, why did he not take the rematch right away?? Hes scared he will eat more leather.

IMHO JMM will give a better fight than MAB, but all the arguments here for a JMM victory are PAST TENSE, he is GETTING OLD NOT BETTER ...

I dont want to argue anymore who won the first fight, all have been said before and JMM and PAC Fans stick to their own analysis of the fight, and IMHO its a discussion in futility/infinity ...

PAC is tremendously improving and is peaking, i know JMM will give a good fight and if he can keep his feet on the canvas he may have a chance, but IMHO he will come out short and be KTFO in the later rounds..

          That is much too simplified.

Manny was very discouraged by Marquez's resolve in that fight. He had problems with his feet, and was very let down that he couldn't stop him and let him back into the fight.

Since that fight, Manny has improved immensly, has added more dimension to his game. He shows angles, and mixes in his right hand very effectivly. He's up in weight, and knocking out bigger and stronger opponents.

Marquez has been very inactive, hasn't had another Marquee fight, and turned down a near Million dollar payday for a Pacquiao rematch to fight for 80 thousand. Turning down that rematch speaks volumes imo.

It's not as clear cut as you're looking at it.

Marquez would present style problems, but Manny has improved a great deal and would still be favored.

I thought the Pacquiao/Marquez fight was one of the most entertaining fights from 2004 and I've wanted to see the rematch ever since...

But even though the composed Marquez fought excellant in coming back from the horrible drubbing he took in the first round and seemed to have the answers to Pacquiao's style with the left hook downstairs, the subtle twists of his body to the left to avoid Pacquiao's straight lefts, and especially the many right hand counters from range, I would certainly favour Pacquiao in the rematch (I thought he won the first fight, as well, and I had it 114-111)...He's just improved since then with his punch variety (his single & double hooks quite often found Marquez when Pac threw them and I would expect him to throw more of them in a rematch) and I don't see him standing nearly as square as he did the first time around, which left him wide open for Marquez' many right hand counters upstairs and left hooks down low...

A strong finish this time around by Pacquiao results in a late round's stoppage victory, in my opinion.

marquez turned down the rematch because he got greedy in his asking price . anyways Marquez is going to have a very difficult fight against Chris John coming up for the WBA featherweight belt. He had better KO John because he wont win a JD in Indonesia against him

I'm not so sure about that. The Million dollar purse would have been the highest of his career, and he's made nothing even close to that ever since.

It made no sense for his career from any position to turn down that rematch.
