Not at all. Actually, Wilfredo won both of those rounds in my card. He won from the 11th to the 14th. That was the rally that made the fight close, because it had been one sided through the first 10 rounds. -
Well it's been about 20 years since I saw the fight, so you'll have to forgive my faded memory on that one.Originally posted by Exciterx22Not at all. I didnt score it but could see how you scored it 144-141, I gave gomez 5 of the last six.Originally posted by Exciterx22A 3-division champion with a great style. I do admit that his fight with Lockridge was really a close loss though.
Machotime, how did you score Gómez-Lockridge? I scored 144-141 for Rocky.Comment

Thanks. I call it as I see it. No need to get patriotic with this stuff. The beatdown Gomez put on 2 Mexican greats, Zarate and Pintor, was legendary stuff.Originally posted by Exciterx22That's a very classy comment from a Mexican. No bias at all. Great stuff.Comment

Indeed. I also admit that Sánchez beat Gómez. No excuses. However, I thought the fight was very competitive. I had it 67-65 Sánchez at the time of the stoppage.Originally posted by morancitoThanks. You know, I used to say the same and still say that. The thing is that the more I see of Salvador Sánchez, the better I think he is. Sometimes I think that it was just a bad style for Gómez. Chava was a big, strong featherweight who never gave up on his fight plan. Gómez was similar to Trinidad. He had too much confidence in his power. Still, Wilfredo was competitive in the first fight, so in a rematch he would have done even better. All in all, I think that Salvador would have gotten a decision in a rematch, but a Wilfredo win was possible, too.Originally posted by machotimeI wish that rematch would have happened!Comment

I think that's right on the spot. I had it 57 - 57 from round 2 to 7, which goes to show that, indeed, Gomez was holding his own quite nicely. It definately wasn't the blowout some people thought it was, but then again, none of Sanchez's fights were.Originally posted by Exciterx22Indeed. I also admit that Sánchez beat Gómez. No excuses. Do you have the fight? I've been dying to comment on one specific moment of it.Comment

I think that Gomez would have regrouped and brought a different game plan, yeah sometimes his pride or confidence got the best of him and did not work in his favor, but I dont think that Gomez would fight the same fight. Either way, it would have been a great rematch.Originally posted by Exciterx22You know, I used to say the same and still say that.
