I agree that he made a 38 year old man retire.

But there are two points that also must be made here.

1- If the fight had gone on.. the most likely outcome is a brutal career ending stoppage from Lewis.. Neither fighter dominated the fight.. but Lewis was clearly at a big advantage with Vitali going blind.

2- That was a old, unmotivated, out of shape 257 Pound Lewis. Prime Lewis is heavily favored against any version of Vitali.

Thanks for posting Jaz, when you watch Cotto fight, you are always intrigued because he can be dominating and still be hurt, Torres fight comes to mind.

Like I said before, Vitali doesn't control his competition, but neither does Cotto. He's fought and beat better fighters.

I voted for Vitali, just because he got his eye ****ed up by a top 5 HW ATG (and top 3 H2H) don't mean he's not great himself.. Yes Lewis was old and fat and unmotivated.. +coming off a lay off.. but that version of Lewis was still very deadly. No shame in losing blood to an aging lion.

Beating Mosley > greater than any win Vitali has and I really don't think it's that close.
I agree with this, but the question wasn't who has a better win(s) on his resume.

When I rank resumes I take everything into account. Cotto was almost embarrassed against Pacquiao. I don't see any fighter - not just in Vitali's era, but any era who would be able to do to him, what Pac did to Cotto.

Muhammad Ali will humiliate Vitali. Styles make fights. I'm not down playing Vitali's greatness by any means.. I feel that Vitali will beat up Ken Norton who Ali struggled with.. but if you studied both fighters.. Ali's reflexes, foot work and flurries is a direct counter to Vitali's stance and style of fighting. Ali will win a 10-2 type decision which is basically a humiliation.

Wladimir or Lennox will do much better against Ali just like Vitali will do much better against Tyson..

Cotto and i don't see how it can be close.

Cotto has 2 big wins over HOF'er Mosley and borderline HOF Judah.

Vitali has neither, and hasn't even fought the best in his division. Beating a bunch of #4 or #5 ranked contenders doesnt do much for me

                    Good point made.

I don't think it would be a humiliation. It would be just very frustrating for Vitali and Ali will beat him with wide UD. It's not quite the same as what Pac did to Cotto where he suffered multiple KDs and was TKOed.

I fully agree on last remark.

I would probably lean on Cotto.
