It is true that Cotto has fought better opponents than Hatton. Hatton has only two good wins in his last few fights!

However, Hatton handled Tsyzu and Massera ( mind the spelling )
in typical style. However, Cotto has looked quite vunerable in his last few fights and Hatton hasn't shown any weakness accept for cuts!

It is because Hatton looks so dominant and Cotto so fragille at world level that the concepts of Hatton beating Cotto seem a reality!

I wouldnt underestimate Hatton that much. Cotto has a chance on cuts, but if he becomes brave and fights on the inside, he will lose to Hatton. Cotto can outbox hatton, that is what will do it, box from the outside always keeping hatton on the defensive. Mayweather will beat Hatton, Castillo/Hatton would be a great fight but I would say it is 50/50. Hatton/Mayweather will look like SRL/Duran II.

We all know that Hatton was known for his sheer dominance in fights rather than the quality of opposition he was facing, his talent and skills would make most of his fights mismatches and one-sided beatdowns.

But, he has fought plenty of decent fighters:

Giuseppe Lauri - Top-class amateur, current IBF Intercontinental light-welterweight champ who is looking for a Hatton rematch.

The way you show a fighter is decent is not by listing their titles, but by listing a tough opponent they have beaten. So, who has Lauri beaten that makes him good?

Freddie Pendleton - former IBF world lightweight champ.

He held that title 13 years ago. And you know he was 37 when Hatton fought him right?

Joe Hutchinson - gave Gatti and Hector Camacho Jr much tougher fights than he gave Hatton.

Phillips was 39 when Hatton fought him, and coming off a horribly one-sided loss to Sharmba Mitchell.

Ben Tackie - a poor man's Azumah Nelson, beat Ray Oliveira, Hatton beat him more impressively than Tszyu and Mitchell managed.

I am thinking you have NEVER seen Azumah Nelson fight. Tackie was coming off back to back losses at the hands of Tszyu and Mitchell. And if you say Hatton beat him more impressively than Tszyu or Mitchell, I have to question whether you have seen either of those fights as well.

Michael Stewart - beat Chucky Tschorniawsky (Tschorniawsky beat Mayweather in the amateurs!), Stewart took Mitchell the distance whereas Hatton destroyed him.

Augie Sanchez beat Mayweather in the Amateurs too. That REALLY means alot. Chuck Tschorniawky is a 3rd tier club fighter. Michael Stewart got beat by Dorin Spivey on ESPN in embarrassing fashion.

Ray Oliveira - beat Vivian Harris and Vince Phillips, Hatton became the first man ever stop him (busted his eardrum and finished Oliveira as a boxer).

Oliveira was 36!!!! WAY past his prime, in which he wasn't anything more than 2nd tier anyways.

Carlos Maussa - beat Vivian Harris.

Vivian Harris obviously didn't train for his fight with Maussa, he was out of breath since the second round.

Why are you trying to defend Hatton's pre Tszyu career? There is nothing to defend. He was stuck with a promoter who would not let him fight anyone. Now that Hatton is free of him he has pledged to take on the best in the division, which is very admirable.

yeah kinda true, but in a way you can kind of forgive it with Hattons style he is only going to be able to stay at the very top level for about two years max and then he is going to retire. Hatton's made his money thats nicely banked, now he can make his name.
