Some decent opponents that Hatton fought prior to Tszyu..

We all know that Hatton was known for his sheer dominance in fights rather than the quality of opposition he was facing, his talent and skills would make most of his fights mismatches and one-sided beatdowns.

But, he has fought plenty of decent fighters:

Giuseppe Lauri - Top-class amateur, current IBF Intercontinental light-welterweight champ who is looking for a Hatton rematch.

Freddie Pendleton - former IBF world lightweight champ.

Joe Hutchinson - gave Gatti and Hector Camacho Jr much tougher fights than he gave Hatton.

Vince Phillips - beat Kostya Tszyu and reigned as IBF world light-welterweight champ.

Ben Tackie - a poor man's Azumah Nelson, beat Ray Oliveira, Hatton beat him more impressively than Tszyu and Mitchell managed.

Michael Stewart - beat Chucky Tschorniawsky (Tschorniawsky beat Mayweather in the amateurs!), Stewart took Mitchell the distance whereas Hatton destroyed him.

Ray Oliveira - beat Vivian Harris and Vince Phillips, Hatton became the first man ever stop him (busted his eardrum and finished Oliveira as a boxer).

Kostya Tszyu - dominated at 140 for 10 years.

Carlos Maussa - beat Vivian Harris.

And Ricky has been in the top 10 at 140 for five years.
So he's not fought 40 'bums'

Im not trying to take anything away from Hatton but, Hutchinson never fought Macho Camacho, he fought Jr and lost by UD! Oliviera was 36 when he faced Hatton. Michael Steward has no notable wins. Yes he took Shramba to 12 but steward lost every round and Shramba was never a KO boxer. The only names that I see there are Kostya, and Phillips (and i hesitate when I say phillips at that stage of his career).

              let hatton face

              Jose luis castillo
              diego corrales
              miguel cotto
              floyd mayweather

i bet all of them will beat hatton!!

tszyu is his only big accomplishment!!! (Which makes his resume look good now for hatton)

I'll rule out Corrales and Cotto immediately because they don't have the chins or the legs to beat Hatton. Neither one of them could take the punishment that would be meted out to them and they don't have the legs to run from it. Castillo maybe could stand toe-to-toe with Hatton and win. Mayweather could maybe use his legs and box Hatton.

Hatton has already said that he won't stand toe-to-toe with Castillo, and that he'd try to out-box him instead (probably using 'in and out' tactics).

Ricky was also the best boxer at the 1996 Junior World Championships (not officially) according to those who witnessed (he totally dominated his semi-final against the Russian who went on to win Gold, and was disgracefully robbed), so he was competing at a very high level back then. He fought and beat some top amateurs, especially at international meets in 1995.

Top amateurs that Ricky beat - Paata Gvasaliya, Timur Gaydalov, Pavel Slavov and Roberto Guerra (Cuban national welterweight champion five years in a row starting the year after Hatton beat him).

Hatton would often triple up on the left hook back then real fast, often scored three points doing that.
