In fairness hes always had one punch power at a lower level at least, hes also a very short & compact middleweight he didn't belong at super middle & keeping things real Saul Roman has spent his whole career at 154 and was never anything to behold in the first place.

Last night showed me more that Saul Roman sucks as a fighter than anything else but not to take anything away from what was a beautiful K.O

He has nothing to offer GGG or any other decent middleweight but decent power & a bit of handspeed.

I mention it because everyone has focused on the point about power and ignored the two year absence.

The layoff means little. You're talking about a fighter that wasn't as dedicated in the pastas he should've been. He's fought at LHW and SMW when he's actually a small guy. After losing to Brinkley, Stevens lost his way. That was a major career setback. The time off helped him decide if boxing was really for him. What you see now is a dedicated fighter who is training hard and comes to fight in better shape. Honestly, I think the main reason for this change was the birth of his daughter. That seems to have reinvigorated him and given him a reason to push himself. Of course every fighter should be involved in drug testing. However, that is not what this thread is suggesting. TS is not asking for testing in this case for the greater good of the sport.

Stevens has always been a very strong, powerful fighter but he's lost multiple times agains lesser opposition. Saul Roman squared up, dropped his hands and basically said "okay Curtis, knock me out now" and the fight was over. GGG and Matthysse being overrated is one thing, but Stevens having a shot a beating GGG? Good grief...
