Is this a joke? You've got to be joking. The guy was a small SMW. He's only 5'7. You must not have seen his last fight. He couldn't knock out Findley because Findley is a big fighter with a good chin. Now he faces Roman who has been knocked out 7 times and he's suspect. Soto Karass knocked out Roman so did Sergio, Rubio, etc... This is ludicrous. It was Saul f'n Roman for god's sake.

How many super middleweights move down south of a division they've spent there entire career at?. I can only think of Mundine and he got starched by a nobody. Seems a little su****ious. If his chin holds up than it's very su****ious.
He was tiny at SMW, even short at MW. He took 2 years off after the Brinkley schooling, he probably needed time to rebuild his confidence.

You're making too big a deal out of this. Roman was stopped 6 times, and had an awesome life and death battle vs a not very good Pinzon just recently, went down 3-4 times. The other guy was coming off Lemieux KOBY 1. Did you catch Stevens vs Findley? Didn't look like a juiced up beast, eh?

In fairness hes always had one punch power at a lower level at least, hes also a very short & compact middleweight he didn't belong at super middle & keeping things real Saul Roman has spent his whole career at 154 and was never anything to behold in the first place.

Last night showed me more that Saul Roman sucks as a fighter than anything else but not to take anything away from what was a beautiful K.O

He has nothing to offer GGG or any other decent middleweight but decent power & a bit of handspeed.

Everybody needs to relax about stevens,,,,

damn the guy was an undersized, big puncher muscle head at 168,, just too much muscle mass,,,

now the guy has shed some muscle, comes into fights at a better weight, and is ko.ing fringe journeymen,,,, not exactly like he has beaten anyone top 10 yet.....

Guys drop down weight classes all the time,,,, miguel vasquez started at 140, but found it easier to competet at 135

everyone just needs to relax alittle about stevens,,,

He was also two years out of the game for, as the commentators said it "unexplained reasons".

I mention it because everyone has focused on the point about power and ignored the two year absence.

Main Events, K2 and the fans should be in favour of drug testing regardless.

The layoff means little. You're talking about a fighter that wasn't as dedicated in the pastas he should've been. He's fought at LHW and SMW when he's actually a small guy. After losing to Brinkley, Stevens lost his way. That was a major career setback. The time off helped him decide if boxing was really for him. What you see now is a dedicated fighter who is training hard and comes to fight in better shape. Honestly, I think the main reason for this change was the birth of his daughter. That seems to have reinvigorated him and given him a reason to push himself. Of course every fighter should be involved in drug testing. However, that is not what this thread is suggesting. TS is not asking for testing in this case for the greater good of the sport.

                    Check that out.

For the past two years, Curtis Stevens has been helping other boxers get better. Stevens, a super middleweight from Brooklyn, does not run a charity network fo

Stevens has always been a very strong, powerful fighter but he's lost multiple times agains lesser opposition. Saul Roman squared up, dropped his hands and basically said "okay Curtis, knock me out now" and the fight was over. GGG and Matthysse being overrated is one thing, but Stevens having a shot a beating GGG? Good grief...
