I'm cautiously optimistic that Tua finds a way to defeat the colossal Ustinov. Ustinov is a big guy with good power but limited boxing skills.Comment

Im convinced the only reason David Tua was offered this fight was so they could name the promotion David v. Goliath, rather than just pursue a straight up guaranteed winComment

Plus Ustinov is a rather huge softie. He str8 quit vs Pulev and i think a few rounds of hard shots from Tua and he'll quit again. Seems like they got the most nonn-mobile guy aroundComment

And Tua is a little 40 year old guy with eroded boxing skills.
Don't get me wrong, I like David and want him to win.
But I don't like his chances versus Ustinov. 5' 10" (if that) David at this point is not comparable to 6' 5" prime Kubrat Pulev.
The fight that should have been made was Tua vs Barrett III. The first two were excellent to watch and the third would have done well Down Under, even if Monte did lose to Cameron (I know the story behind that -- let's just say Monte's head was not in the game that night).
Everyone loves a trilogy and that's what should have happened here, instead of throwing David in at the deep end.Last edited by Ulver; 08-02-2013, 10:55 PM.Comment

Cedric kushner told him not to take the rematch with barrett because he had vitàli lined up for a WBC title shot but tua demanded the rematch...he clearly needs the money. his finances are well documented. the division is so bad that he could have conceivably gotten to one of the klitschkos and made enough money in one run to retire. he never got past monte barret, doe. if he had stayed in shape year round and put together a better run to prepare himself he could have won those fights. after that it would have probably been one more fight with a contender that he'd have to win to get to the klitschkos, given his name and power. the division is that bad.Comment
