Laurance Cole is the son of State Athletic Commissioner ****(head) Cole. Fights are staged there for 2 reason; big mexican presence and they can easily be bought off to rob a fighter/gift decision to whoever pays good enough

I know there is always controversy in Texas but I think the best boxing fans in reside in Texas and I think there will continue to be fights here. In the last year Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio have all had big fights. Where else could Berto from Florida and Karass from Cally draw 9 thousand fans. Mikey Garcia and JuanMa fought in front of about 6k in Dallas and that was with one fighter from Dallas in a 4 round undercard. Houston drew a nice crowd for Donairre and let's not forget Canelo fought in front of 40,000 and Pacquiao in front of over 50,000 in Texas!
        Texas.

Texas is on the come up but Vegas will always be the boxing mecca in the United States.

World Wide however, Macau will be the next Mecca within 10 years. In terms of revenue this year alone it will probably bring in more money than Vegas.

I wouldn't fight in Texas if I was the B-Side of the fight; no way in hell was the Berto fight a draw or him winning; and Canelo didn't blow out Trout

It was a good thing Karass stopped him because it was headed for another 1 point split decision wins for Berto and people would actually defend that even tho Soto kicked him ass and way out landed him all night long.

I cant even remember a big fight card in Texas without controversy

Erik Raskin wrote a story on the Cole monopoly on boxing in Texas. Apparently referee L Cole is also the only entity that promotors can buy insurance from for their events. Mecca my a55.

It's a shame drug testing is done so poorly in Texas.
