Not the same thing. U can vacate voluntarily I.e. relinquish or u can be forced to vacate by a governing body I.e. be stripped. The latter happens much more often.Last edited by Kagami Taiga; 07-29-2013, 07:43 AM.Comment

yes this I know. There is involuntary and voluntary. Fighters vacate voluntarily all the time. If they are moving to a different weight class, or don't want to face their mandatories, and/or have a more lucrative fight they want that the sanctioning body doesn't acknowledge as a title fight.... or if they just don't want to pay the sanctioning fees..
One example I can think of is Joey Zags giving up his WBO belt to fight RJJ.Comment

All the time? Zags was basically forced to vacate because the WBO would not approve the fight. That's exactly what I mean. If Broner isn't forced to vacate, and he won't be whether at 135 or 147, then he probably won't relinquish his title. I assume they are keeping their options open. I still expect the maidana fight to come off, and the news he didn't relinquish doesn't really change anything.yes this I know. There is involuntary and voluntary.
