Changing trainers or not will lead any fighter to failure against mayweather jr. He's just to dam smart with a pile of skills to go with it.

trainers have nothing 2 do w/it, not vs FM, he's not going 2b a stationary, defense lacking as Trout was in still, a close bout, regardless of what the judges had...what good's his trainer when he goes 2 MW, he'll b bigger, slower w/ a less effective punch vs bigger guys???

Edison Reynoso at the post-fight press confrence following Canelo's loss to Floyd: "I meant to say I was with Canelo 7 and 1/2 years. Not 8 like I said before."

Throughout this whole ordeal, they strike me as a group that knows that they are in a fortunate situation, don't know how they got so lucky and is trying to convince themselves that they deserve to be in the same ring as Floyd. On September 14th, they will see how short-sighted that thought was.

Canelo's physique and style remembers me of Cotto when he was crushing everybody @ 140. And I believe the same thing will happen in the near future, he won't be able to make weight, and will stop bullying opponents like he does now. Actually, I think Cotto has better footwork, and that has allowed him to do OK @ 147 and 154. Will Canelo be able to adapt and develop it when people don't run from him anymore? Only time will tell...

Stamina might not be an issue anymore though since he'd be able to train to train instead of training to make weight, but yeah I also think he has problems once he has to fight at MW. I guess the solution to that would be Catch weights.

At 160, Canelo will be facing men who are taller, longer and stronger. Canelo won't be able to walk through power shots, his power shots won't have as much impact, the physicality of the other fighters will exacerbate his stamina problem and he'll find that it's hard to keep guys off him if he tries taking 2 minutes of every round off. The Trout fight provided a small glimpse of the kind of troubles Canelo is going to face if he goes from oversized 154 pounder to undersized 160 pounder.
                    Very well stated.

I guess Reynoso is saying that Mayweather is at a disadvantage and will lose since he is only in his second fight with his trainer, Mayweather Sr.

The trainer will make no difference. Alvarez is sticking with the trainer he has had his entire career because he has confidence in this trainer and they have an excellent rapport. After the fight, he will blame his trainer for the loss and drop him like a hot rock. just as Ricky Hatton did after his loss to Mayweather.
