Nothing wrong with it. My point is if curry is going SD/UD against starling then IMO he likely loses to floyd who is a superior boxer.

No, I don't. Hernandez was a good boxer in his day and a nice guy, but it's become common for Mayweather fans to elevate him to a level beyond what he actually was. The truth is, until he beat Azumah Nelson - a well past, albeit still relevant Azumah Nelson - he had never beaten a top rated fighter within his own division, and he fought very few top ten fighters over the course of his entire career.

As for the bolded: what kind of inane logic is that? What would Curry have to do in order to establish himself as a credible threat to Mayweather? Spark Starling out inside of three rounds? Find a way of transporting himself into the future and beat Andre Berto?

And like I said, I have seen enough of the welterweights in the eighties, and we did get quite a lot of fights from america shown, believe it or not, to know that Floyd would have struggled like hell with a lot of the top guys. Thats not a knock on Floyd, its just the way it is.
Maybe so, but not Marlon Starling, who was a regional fighter for 90% of his career. I'm sure you guys saw the Honetghan KO.

starling didn't do as well against guys with a longer reach who could fight from a distance, not just curry but Breland and others, granted he beat guys like simon brown and floyd sr. who were better than Breland.

I have no problem with opinions about guys beating floyd. But at least be able to defend that position with something other than calling a floyd fan a name.

He's a HOF'er FFS who defended his title 14 times and lost to ODH and floyd. How am I elevating him to make floyd look better?

I'm not saying he isn't a credible threat. I'm saying I think floyd would outbox curry on a way to a win and I use as reference the starling fights.

Floyd snr better than Breland?? Good grief. Dunn, look at the quotes in my sig...this is what you are a part of and you wonder why you get ridiculed and shat on by anyone that doesnt have that mindset. Coming out with stuff like Floyd snr being better than Breland also doesnt help.

              Context mate.

He wouldn't be a PPV superstar, he wouldn't be atop p4p lists for a decade, he wouldn't be an undefeated 10 time champion across 5 divisions and he wouldn't be a standout attraction like he is today with one fight every 12 months being the boxing 'Superfight' event of the year. They would be normal fights against contenders, some small non title fights in between, because that is what he fights in reality. Not champ vs champ boxing events like all his fights are made out to be today.

Taken in context of the thread title, he would be ordinary in comparison to what he is today. However, no one of his skill is ever ordinary, just like all those legends and greats I mentioned as part of Duran's era aren't ordinary.

I watched damn near every breland fight from his time in golden gloves. Always thought he was good but not that good. I think floyd'd dad was better but left alot outside the ring. If you disagree that fine.

Frankly, you and other do that becaue you haven't seen a fighter fight or because you've seen other posters do so. those things don't move me. If you can defend your position you'd do so.

Nothing moves you when it comes to floyd, his family, tmt, his promoter etc.
