Wrong on both counts. Mayweather did not make Hatton come up in weight. Hatton was challenging Mayweather who was the bigger name and was also the undisputed champion of his division. Hatton called out Maywesther and wanted to become a multi division P4P champion. And the catch weight for the Marquez fight was 144.

      Old duran fighting prime hearns.....

It would be like floyd fighting GGG right now.... except for the fact that hearns is an all time ATG and ggg has beaten up guys who will never win belts..

But I suppose it's a lot easier to excuse such a performance because poor old DOO-RAN wasn't motivated enough to get in shape to fight one of the best fighters in the sport.
        Good post.

Lets be clear if anyone was average in their era it was Duran. Lost twice to Leonard and Camacho. Lost Hagler, Benitez, and Hearns. Beat none of the big dogs

Didn't both Duran and SRL in a interview a few months back say Manny and Floyd would have done well in their era? They both stated they would defeat them but they said they both were truly worthy of being in their era of elite fighters.

He beat Leonard. It was only one of the great wins in boxing history, nothing special I guess. Considering he was a past prime lightweight by the time he moved up, what he did was pretty damn impressive.
