Why would they meet at 138,,, Floyd from 2002-03 vs duran 72-75
if Duran is talking about today's floyd vs duran of the 80's then yes i say floyd outboxes him...
But at lightweight duran beats floyd... Just too much pressure, power, stamina, and skill....
Cotto and JLC have skills and gave floyd problems... Duran has 10x more skills than those guys...

Hippie? My parents were the hippy generation, dummy. I'm just trying to give you guys some perspective. SRL was my favorite fighter of his era, and I got to see all of them back in the day. Lots of myths about their greatness and how nobody from this era could hang with them. Trust me when I tell you, SRL would have been very leary of getting in the ring with both Floyd and Manny. Legends grow over time.

If Pac and Floyd would have fought, this era could have had boasted about having the two biggest fights in Boxing history (floyd and oscar) and (floyd and pac) but they pu ssed out and this era is paying the price for it. Talent wise, there is not that big of a difference. Just back then, the greats fought each other. This era is all phucked up because of Arum and we've been kept from the legendary fights.

Does this make sense to anyone here but me?

We don't even know if floyd would have even fought the best guys for starters.

First off, he probably wouldn't have been fighting at 147 though, same with Manny.

He wouldn't be unbeaten, but he would still be an ATG and HOF.
Completely agree. If Manny and Floyd were around in the 80's, they may not have went over 140.

I don't know what the weight limits were back then I know they have changed but I thought Duran was always a welter no? In 2002 Floyd Mayweather was a Lightweight.

Who cares what age he reached that weight? Floyd, at the present time, is a natural welterweight. He might not have been ten years ago, but he sure as hell is now. The guy didn't even have the belief that he could make 144 a couple of years ago, for christ sake.

Leonard and Hearns, at the time they were competing as welterweights, were natural welterweights. It's really not that difficult to understand. Just because they gained weight and competed in different weight in the ensuing years that followed doesn't change that.

For those wanting to pin a defeat on Floyd, go back to the Castillo fight, but even that one, I'd score it as a draw worst case, and Floyd was fighting with a bum shoulder, and Floyd won their next fight to eliminate all doubt.

Floyd won't be truly appreciated until after he is gone, but kids 10-20 years from now will look back at his era the way kids look back at the SRL's, Duran's and Hearns' careers. May and Pac are living legends, and they'll get their due respect down the road; especially Floyd. He'll retire the all time PPV King, and possibly 50-0, and as the greatest defensive fighter to ever lace them up.

That puts him in the top 5 ATG P4P conversation, imo.
Lol so you don't agree with people having dlh a draw and you believe floyd vs castillo 1 should of been a draw lol dude you are so biase. I don't believe dlh fighgt was a draw.

Who cares is pbf hD a mest up arm point is he should of had an L on his record it don't matter if he won the rematch it doesn't justify him lossing the first one.
You are one biased PBF fan

Dude you need to research Duran,,, He is considered the all-time lightweight champ of all time...
he was 70-1 at that weight, and his lone loss was a split decision and he came back and destroyed the guy in the 2 rematches,,,,

in 79 after beating up everyone at lightweight, he moved to welter and beat guys to become #1 contender to SRL... he beat SRL in a slugfest, and then got outboxed in the rematch.......
Duran competed at welter, jr mid, middleweight, and won belts all in the 80's and fought srl three times, hearns ko him in 2, duran gave hagler hell for 15 rounds, slaughtered davey moore, beat up a much bigger iran barkley at the age of 38.......

Everybody remembers duran for his past his prime fights,,, kinda like hopkins, we will only remember him from tito till now...
