The ref can call it off whenever he wants. Lots of refs stop a fight after an 8 count. He was watching scott closely and deemed him unable to continue- and would have been well within his right to do so after a 3 second count as well.

I'd have liked to see the fight go a little longer, but from his post match interview I don't get the impression Malik would have. He was behind on the cards anyway after the knockdown.

All the butthurt is because the majority of NSB was riding Malik's **** prior to the fight- and don't like the fact Chisora got the job done.

The ref did not call it off, he counted him out. Why must people make up stuff?

The official decision announced was "Malik scott was unable to beat the refs count". You cant re-watch the fight and see it for yourself. The ref can stop the fight whenever he want if he thinks scott cannot continue but he cannot change the count from 10 to 9

Reading what u all wrote means you did not seeeee what happened Chisora's punch went over Scott's head. Chisora threw a body shot when Scott was down........... Scott waited stood up at 9 and the REF F'd up. PERIOD
        Rematch should be mandated...............

By the way Chisora could have been DQ'D hitting while down

It's only right for someone in any profession to say what they mean. The same ref for Chisora vs Scott did something different in another fight. When Ustinov was KD he looked to be in worse condition than Scott. His head was down the entire time and didnt even attempt to stand but he still waited until the end of 10 to wave off the fight. That fight was Kubrat Pulev vs Aledander Ustinov.

In the Chisora-Scott fight he clearly says 9 and simultaneously waves off the fight. In the Pulev-Ustinov fight he clearly says 10 and then waves off the fight.

9 means 9. 10 means 10. He got up at 9 which means he beat the official 10 count.

            Kubrat Pulev vs Aledander Ustinov

            Dereck Chisora vs Malik Scott

Why is it so hard to believe that both Scott and the referee ****ed up?

Scott was dumb enough to leave it until after the 9count to stand up, something which nearly all pro fighters on twitter said was ****** thing to do

And the ref went very quickly from 9 to waving the fight and seemed to panic when Scott (who he may have thought was quitting) stood up so quick. He also could have saved himself a lot of hassle by saying ten then waving instead of waving first.

This is boxing, there's plenty of ****** to go around.

It would have looked even more su****ious or awkward if the ref said 10 instead of waving the fight off because, as I have bolded above, he went so quickly from 9 to waiving it off.

Scott may or may not deserve some blame but 10 is 10. Look at the Pulev-Ustinov fight. Its the same ref and what he did in that fight is completely different than what he did for the Scott fight. If he did that, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

It was no big surprise to me to see Malik Scott get screwed over as I posted that would happen once the fight was announced. The Ref learned from the David Price vs Thompson to stop the fight while his guy was ahead to avoid further embarrassment from another aging American.

                    Bad stoppage

This sort of reminds me of the Klitschko vs Solis ending. Solis tears his ACL and meniscus but some how Klitschko gets awarded with a TKO. And this idiot Vitali Klitschko is such an egomaniac that he goes around boasting like he really did knock Solis out. And people on forums actually support the madness and try to rationalize that it really was a knock out when all you have to do is look at the fight and see that Klitschko barely even landed a punch. And last I checked boxing doesn't include any injury that occurs below the waist in it's criteria for a tko. Bad decisions and referee screw ups that influence the outcome of the fight should simply be cause for overturning bad outcomes.

envision that Floyd Mayweather Jr. slips to the canvas and has it wrongly ruled a knockdown.
I'll take odds on that happening.
