Of course as fight fans we all have fighters who have styles we prefer. Rigio may not be everyone's cup of tea. That said the guy is coming off of his biggest win over a top 5 p4p fighter in a bout that was technical but not boring. Im was going through my HBO go app and realized HBO has had no issues bringing back plenty of guys (some that I am a fan of) that bring less excitement than Rigo did in his last fight. So why is Rigo a target all of a sudden? Is this punishment for beating a top fighter HBO has been showcasing lately? The article up about HBO now trying to make a fight for Rigo makes feel like they are making it seem like they are doing the guy a favor. He earned a spot on network tv with his performance. In fairness I'm not completely sure that this is all HBO or Top Rank using influence against the guy. I recall an interview being posted here that showed BOB Arum bashing Rigo right after the fight and Rigo calling him out on it. So is HBO "throwing up" every time his name is mentioned or did his promoter sour them on him in effort to prove a point. I just don't get it. If I was Rigo's promoter I would be talking about how he had such a virtuoso performance. Seems to me that few people actually have this great boxers best interest in mind and its a real shame. Thoughts??
Rigondeaux/HBO saga is BS

Its the same thing with Lara. Their not even that boring especially their last fights.
Its just that their too much of a threat to their golden boys

See but if Lara beat a top p4p guy and they said they don't want him back it would be exactly the same. They have been trying to shut Lara out of the big fights which happens. But if he beat someone like Canelo or something and then Showtime wasnt giving him any dates then I would be just as livid. Lara hasn't been given that kind of chance though he is starting to get some decent names in the ring.Comment

It's BS in the sense that they don't feel the way they make it sound. Rigondeaux is going nowhere and this whole mess is one of the only ways they can bring attention to a guy like him when he's not fighting.Comment

It's a shame that Donaire isn't blamed for these so called 'stinker fights' by ******ed casual fans.
Donaires fight with Vasquez, Mathebula & Nishoka were bore fests & he gets a pass from HBO? smh.
They are employing this tactic for Rigo to change his style to please viewers & get more TV ratings...but i feel Rigo will be too smart for that.Comment

They can bring attention to him by featuring him again and pushing for a rematch leveraging some of the excuses Nonito made after the fight. Its just uncalled for to bury him. Burying him doesnt bring him any attention for any but us hardcore fans.Comment

Maybe they brought him in as an opponent. Fine. But my point his if he beat (schooled) the top guy in his division, hurt him late, in a technical fight that was not boring and then couldnt get a fight that would be worse. A lot of guys have been shut out by promoters/network but after certain wins things should change.Comment

I was thinking about this and HBO did ban the klitskos to because they are so boring so at least rigo isnt being singled out right?Of course as fight fans we all have fighters who have styles we prefer.
