They're no dumber than school rivalries, team rivalries, or town rivalries. It adds ****e to certain clashes. What's dumb is when people take it to an extreme, like it's some kind of war or something.

In any event, it's mind-boggling to me that Jose Fernandez, a Cuban-born superstar pitcher, could only muster about 20,000 fans to Marlins Park (about double the usual attendance). Miami fans just don't care.
