Floyd has also fought in 5 divisions but these guys cant fight in 2? They need warmups despite the fact that they will way more than him on fight night
Normally when fighters move up they are fighting bigger guys and you want them to prove they belong, but that wouldn't apply to Mayweather vs. Matthysse or Garcia. They are his size.

I don't want a welterweight tuneup for either, I want Mayweather to fight the winner. It's the best of the options I can see.

I don't think he can make 140 today without near on killing himself its not easy to play with weight like this , I think Garcia or Matthysse would both go to 147 then if they lose they still got their 140 titles , this is the same reason Hatton went to 147 with Floyd , they all will do it because Floyd is a small WW .

Totally agree, but you still have morons on here calling the Garcia / Matthysse a cherry pick for Floyd. Matthysse isn’t a cherry pick for anyone at 140 or 147.

I would love to see Floyd fight the winner. Ideally, I'd like for them to get a warm up at 147 first, but hey. The winner of the king of 140 and definitely should be one of the Top 10 P4P fighters.

Neither of them have a shot. Both are too slow.

Ellerbe Laugh; You'll Want Floyd & Pacquiao For The $$$, After Canelo KO's Floyd!

Dont' be sizing up the winner of Garcia/Matthysee for Floyd, because Floyd doesn't get out of this fight with Canelo alive. Canelo is a very mean dude. He pounded out a monster sized Austin Trout. Canelo is gonna get Floyd KO'd. THEN watch Ellerbe not seek a rematch, but go grab $$$ hoping they have a washed up Pacquiao, then watch Floyd get stopped twice, and get KO'd by Manny too. This is the end of the undefeated road for Mayweather. He won't get past Canelo, period. Draw it up on paper, all the experts, show it a no brainer that Floyd is just too talented, then put your eraser to work, to explain how Floyd got caught, paralyzed and knocked out. Then lets see Matthysee versus Canelo, if you choose... because Matthysee will do the same thing to Garcia, who just had trouble with an old Zab Judah. Matthysee will walk thru this guy in 4 rounds or less. BRING ON CANELO!

Canelo / Matthysee? Now that's the true definition of a cherry pick. If Canelo beats Floyd why fight a guy two weight classes down? He can go up and fight Quillin or GGG. Those guys would kill to fight him.

So if it's someone fighting Floyd, "why does the opponent need to have fought before at 147?", "Why do they need a tuneup first?"

Floyd, who has fought twice at 154 and has a title and there are 3 titles on the line for his next fight, all I kept on hearing from many of the Floyd fans is "Canelo needs to come down in weight", "CW is fair", "Floyd has only fought at 154 twice"

Floyd is not going to 140, he won't fight the winner of this fight, and if he does...the fight will be at 147.

Floyd will always keep his options open.
