And fight Gamboa? Me, too. Nonetheless, it wouldn't hurt Yuri to take a prep-fight. This is going to be Gamboa's biggest test. Ironic how the tables have turned....

Gamboa's a little too small to be a force at 135, in my opinion; but I think Yuri's looked bad in his last couple of fights for at least a couple of reasons. One, he had that fifteen month layoff leading up to the Farenas fight. Two, he lacks a suitable trainer.

Gamboa has been using his father as his coach since his comeback. It's not working out. Should a fight with Garcia be signed, Yuri better bring in someone like Pedro Luis Diaz, or his old coach Ismael Salas. A motivated Gamboa, with the proper trainer, is a dangerous man.

TBH with you I think Gamboa is not ready for Mikey but he'll take this fight. He really needs to sharpen up and look more lively in the ring to have a chance.

I'm pretty sure he hasn't. Carlos was a boxer himself, but he's simply not prepared to coach a world-class fighter like his son. It's been said that Yuri has some money problems and is looking to save some cash, but he can't go into a fight with Mikey with anything less than a top-flight trainer.
