(sniffle) That cuts so deep. But please, feel free to tell me why HBO hasn't had any interest in the Klits for so long since this is what started Ravens and mines little squabble. Or did you just add your two cents to do exactly what you're accusing us of?

Yet HBO doesn't mind televising Golovkin's fights, do they? So that can't be it.

Why didn't they boot Tyson when he was tearing through the division? Honestly it's an easy answer....excitement. Same reason Golovkin is bringing in the ratings and HBO is loving him as ShoulderRoll has pointed out. Wlad is great. You'd be hard pressed to find any reasonable person that denies this. But the majority of his fights are boring. Sure he gets knockouts, but not before wearing his opponent out with his jab, jab, grab...jab, jab, right way of fighting. He wins, and I'm not even saying he should change to please anyone. But most American fans don't find him exciting and most casual observers don't even know who he is. This is why HBO dropped him and Ross Greenburg pretty much said as much.

Wlad is boring, but that wouldn't prevent HBO from showing him if he was fighting in Vegas for 1m purse, much less 330k that GGG just fought for. Some interesting challengers would help.

I don't think he'd get in if he retired now. IMO he has the talent and plenty of time, but he comes across as a shyster and that 2 division thing is not that great, especially if you look closer at what it meant

And yet they have. It doesn't matter the venue if HBO thinks they can make money through ratings. They showed Wlad vs Haye in Germany and it was a dud. Lets not forget Haye brought hype to the table as well and casual fans simply didn't care. Hell, they didn't even televise the Tony Thompson fight and he was an American in a mandatory position. GGG gets casual fans excited, but if he all of a sudden turned into a safety first fighter I can all but promise HBO would drop him to.

They don't like tape delays or sending crews abroad, it's a big and expensive production. It makes no sense for these routine defenses, only for big events. HBO doesn't like using foreign feeds, cheapens the brand.

I agree there was more to it, esp with Greenburg, but it's a new era at HBO and I bet they buy the Povetkin fight. I'm less sure of the fighting happening
