He's not popular because of his boxing. He's popular (if that's the right term) or sells because of his 'love to hate' personality. People always complain about his fights being boring.Comment

It's a competition. Either people are entertained by the interest of the execution of the sport or they aren't. If they aren't then boxing is not for them unless two face first brawlers are "boxing" each other. Which is fine. That's what casual fans usually are like. Hardcore fans are interested in anything that gets you the W. They appreciate skill and strategy.Comment
