Will Mayweather Lose His PPV Selling Power If He Loses

I guess the Question here is why do people pay to watch Floyd.
I can tell you this and I think everybody notices that most boxing fans and even boxing purist can't stand him or just flat out hate him. So why do they watch? If you get on you tube or even here on boxingscene there seems to be more hate than love for Floyd, but he sells the most PPV and many of them admit they watch to see him lose that zero or get beat up Ko'd etc.

So IF Canelo beats him or Ko's him and he loses that zero, how much will that affect his PPV selling power and if he can't sell enough PPV what happens with the Showtime contract IDK what do you guys think.

    if he lost, he'd retire
he has no way to sell himself after that, people would be satiated
but he's not gonna lose to Alvarez, the guy isn't good enough
only guy in his weight range that could challenge him is Lara
and that fight isn't ever gonna happen

A lot of people watch for the opponents. The likes of Cotto, Ortiz, Mosley, Marquez, Hatton and De La Hoya are boxers people took time out to watch regardless of Floyd.

When Floyd fought a relatively less well known fighter in Guerrero, they only did 870k. That's why they need Canelo.

I don't think Canelo has what it takes to beat him either just wondering what you guys think about that because there is always that lucky punch thing.

Wow I didn't know the exact numbers 870K so I guess it's safe to say thats the only reason he's getting in the ring with Canelo.

a good fight is a good fight
not like all Floyd's fights have been wack, he can entertain in the ring
primarily, casual fans eat up the Money crap and pay to see him lose
he can sell any fight to casual fans, so he hasn't had to take the best
as long as he keeps not losing, casuals will keep buying
once he loses, he has no marketing hook anymore

In all seriousness if Floyd was to lose he would probably never fight again. If he lost by knockout I think he kills himself. Floyd's talented as **** but if he was to lose that 0 by getting knocked out especially, no way he will be able to live with it. He's already an Insecure person as it is. With a KO lost he wouldn't know how to live with himself.

A loss will have a massive affect on anyone's PPV #s. Watch for the Pacquiao-Rios numbers they'll be way down.

He loses he will fight again in the rematch. To much money to walk away from.
