I think the movie "Rocky" causes fighters like Rigo issues!

I think I had this conversation with 2501, I remember he told me casuals don't care about DLH greatly outweighing Mayweather. Which is true, he's right. They either don't know the significance of it, or are either oblivious to it. Rigondeaux case is similar, except more dangerous, not only was he facing a much bigger foe, Donaire is fast and has one punch knock out power, but again...casual fans don't care for that; they have no understanding of it. This is why it's impossible to hold a conversation with a casual fan.

How many of you actually have boxed?
Do any of you stay in 1 spot and each punches?

This right here! Lol at the TS bringing rocky into this haha. When people pay to see a fight they want to be entertain. Yes there's the few people that appreciate Rigo's style but the mass majority who dish out money is looking for something else.

Just because the normal person doesn't box doesn't mean they are obligated to enjoy a Boxing chess match. It's like people who only watch the Superbowl for the event, but if nobody is scoring they get bored while the real fans appreciate the overall defense of both teams (unless they're playing like complete ****). But I think also casual fans can appreciate a fight like a Cotto vs Mayweather where there was action yet very tactical on both ends.

Moving around not staying in one spot if different from moving around not wanting to engage. Of course when u fight u want to move around to avoid punches but then u have to attack also. When a fighter moves around and is only picking his punches when he wants too then thats when it gets boring.

You got guys like Rocky yelling "HIT ME" HIT ME" and casual fans and boxing fans want to see that, they think that boxing should look exactly like the movie Rocky, 2 guys just slugging it out.
The term boring boxer wasn't as popular until the movie Rocky.

Now when you don't stand infront of a opponent with your hands down and allow yourself to get hit cleanly, it's called being bored, coward.
I think in the post Tyson era of boxing, and with MMA going strong, a premium has been placed on knockouts/brawls. Rigo is not this kind of fighter so he ultimately will lose out.

Young male fans tend to flock to blood and guts and violence and pin. They are the target audience for almost every sport aired on TV. This group has left boxing and gone more toward MMA.

HBO doesn't want to air MMA so they are doing what they think is the next best thing-promote and back fighters who can crate MMA like excitement with a one punch KO. Rigo will likely not win his fights this way.

These fighters also dont tend to go the distance. MMA has 5 3 minute rounds (i think) thats 15 minutes. Boxing has 12 3 minute rounds-36 minutes. A lot of the big MMA fights end decisively in a KO and there is little controversy when a decision is announced.

I think Rigo is just in the wrong space at the wrong time.

I had this one dude that actually attempted to debate that Mayweather would get Ko'd by prime Tyson....

It's all styles, put Rigondeaux in there against any aggressive fighter and he'll do serious damage.
he fought the same vs cardoba and a very low tier fighter called addy

once he gets hit a little and sees there is even the slightest risk, he will turn tail and run, stick with the bare minimum, only land what is necessary to take the rounds

i do want to see him fight soon though, but people that argue that the man isn't boring are ****in ******

mayweather shouldn't be mentioned next to rigo, rigo has alot of hype behind him, but if you stand there to be hit floyd will put a serious beating on you and actually fights like he wants to hurt you, rigondeaux fights like he just wants you to stay off him, so he doesn't have to do anything but sit back

                    Lmao

That's an extreme example, and one I'm familiar with, but there are various stages of understanding between the casual and seasoned fan. You get guys on here that simply don't know the difference between movement and running. You just can't get through to some people. They'll either figure it out someday for themselves, or never get it at all.

except you dont know that, there was no fight night weights, but of the times that the weights were shown, donaire has rarely, if ever been the heavier man on the night

this is going back to mayweather 160 vs the 145 marquez
