Mares would fight anyone, including Rigondeaux. I guarantee Arum would make Donaire-Mares, too, because that's a big money fight for the division. If he would make Rigo-Donaire, he'd make that fight.

And Arum was making a push to sign him while he was still Golden Boy. That's why I assumed he turned down the offer Golden Boy made to make Donaire-Mares, he wanted to sign Mares for himself and keep all the money.

What puzzles me is why Mares didn't get to Donaire's level when it comes to popularity and financial reward considering Mares is not what you could consider a boring fighter.

If Mares leaves Golden Boy it would open up some huge super fights at 126, he can fight Mikey Garcia who called him out, Nonito Donaire, and Rigondeaux.

Mares should definitely leave for Top Rank. Hes never gotten more than 500k with GBP while Donaire is in the million dollar bracket.

Mares could be a bigger star than Donaire. He has a fan base and exciting style.

This right here! He should go the Cotto route and sign contracts on a fight to fight basis. That way he can face both GB and TR fighters.
