Kim died after the fight going 14 rounds of the 15.
WBC ruled it be lowered to 12.
We still have people dying every so often though.
Shoot, if lebedev/jones went 15 and Lebedev went further, No doubt he would have been even more injured

Bring back the real championship distance!! Come on, 12 rounds used to be fore non-title bouts. Imagine warriors like Moore, Charles, Ali, Robinson, Pep, Gans being present now, they'd laugh their hats off.

15 rounds produced some of the best fights ever but the reason the distance was shortened wasn't for safety reasons or any of that rubbish but rather to allow boxing to be more accessible on network TV. It was money not safety that fueled the change.

Most fighters now can not even finish a 12 round fight. Imagine 3 more rounds

This will never happen again. I remember doing some research paper for a college course and finding that, supposedly, some tests were conducted by doctors and they concluded that boxers, physically speaking, were at their most vulnerable after the twelfth round. Dehydration, being tired, and the accumulation of punches would be the main factors for this. There had been previous deaths in boxing, like Griffith vs Paret III twenty years before, but it was Mancini vs. Kim that jumpstarted all these regulations.

Then in the 90's there was Benn vs. McClellan and Ruelas vs. García. In the 00's there was Montiel vs. Alcazar and Jesús Chávez vs. Leavander Johnson, to name a few. Now you have fatalities and tragic events in boxing even though 15 rounders are a thing of the past. No commission is going to take the risk of sanctioning 15 rounders given the history.

The 12 rounders are BORING enough if you add rounds it will get worse!
When do you see tired fighters at the end of a fight???
Imagine Hopkins or Mayweather or Sergio in 15 round fights!!!
Hell we'll be washing the windows and polishing cars during the fights!!!

ring sizes, 16s were never used, the smallest I know of would be an Everlast 22 with longer turnbukles that made it a 17'9" inside!

The largest would be a 24square inside!

Yeah but Ray those dudes are boring no matter how many rounds the fight is scheduled for. The best solution is if one of those guys is fighting then don't watch. I don't.
