Tyson and Ali are famous modern day boxers who are still alive. Johnson is a famous boxer that fought about 100 years ago. Almost all serious boxing fans know about Jack Johnson.
How come so many people know Ali and Tyson, but not Jack Johnson?

Give me a break. Those same innocent blacks that were being butchered and lynched would have received the same fate even if Jack Johnson wasn't doing any of those things or had never taken up boxing. That's largely true, but his actions were causing bigoted and racist idiots in the south to butcher and lynch innocent blacks, people who turned their backs on him for this very reason! He knew this and carried on anyway! I'm not saying this was his fault but he could have tried to be more secretive about it!
It was inevitable. They would have been lynched for any other reason. I'm pretty sure he knew about slave masters sleeping with black women, so he saw it as payback maybe? Kudos to Jack for basically giving a big middle finger to white America.

Let's be real. Idiots in the south would be butchering and lynching blacks regardless of whether or not Jack Johnson existed. That's largely true, but his actions were causing bigoted and racist idiots in the south to butcher and lynch innocent blacks, people who turned their backs on him for this very reason! He knew this and carried on anyway! I'm not saying this was his fault but he could have tried to be more secretive about it!
Personally I admire that he lived his life as he saw fit, openly and brashly without any fear.Comment
