Guarantee he's bobbing his head to a nonexistent beat.

Good looking out, man. Green when I can give it.

I think he showed more poise and better punch selection/variety against Zab. The problem I have with him is his stance/posture leaves him vulnerable to straight shots and body shots. I like his parrying technique, but he doesn't utilize much head movement and isn't that agile. He doesn't get hit by everything, but he does get touched up.

Matts isn't a defensive wizard himself, but he is a pressure fighter which means he's supposed to get hit more often. I think he makes good use of the peek-a-boo. He'll open up his gloves and take the sting off of incoming shots, and when he throws, he's able to get his hands back to defensive position pretty quickly. Similar to Garcia, his objective is not to make the opponent completely miss, it's to force the opponent to plant their feet and commit/engage so then he can take advantage. There's a moment in the 2nd round against Soto where he cuts off the ring, hits Soto with a straight right which backs him into a corner, Soto throws a long combination and Matts is able to block/deflect everything and land a nice left hook in between.

Both guys get hit enough (and land enough) that I can't see how this fight goes 12. If Matts fights with the same intensity as in his last few fights, it just can't go 12.
Matthysse does get touched but against Ajose for instance, I noticed he blocks a lot of those throw away arm punches Danny likes to throw in close while he waits for a counter opportunity. He needs to get Danny while Danny is punching, in between the shots, which is what he likes to do.

Garcia does take the sting out of a lot of the shots, but there's times, even in the Judah fight, where I was shocked Judah didn't throw a counter.

This fight will be war. No way around it.

He's done it both times so far. Whatever he wants to do, I guess.
