      Can't stop laughing.
my goodness lol. It must be hell to interview him. I hope that Garcia puts on a good performance because the hate is gonna be ridiculous if he gets beat in a Kovalev/Cleverly type fashion. All of that will be thanks to his dad.

      • Rewatched Matthysse-Ajose, Soto, Dallas Jr., Peterson, Judah, and Alexander last night. Also rewatched Garcia-Morales, Morales II, Khan, Judah, Holt, and Theophane.

I honestly think Matthysse puts more effort into his defense than Garcia. The lure of attacking always gets to Garcia and he attacks, whether the situation calls for it or not.

I feel like Garcia has somewhat improved on that. He was swinging for the fences against Morales/Khan and looked really wild. I think he showed more poise and better punch selection/variety against Zab. The problem I have with him is his stance/posture leaves him vulnerable to straight shots and body shots. I like his parrying technique, but he doesn't utilize much head movement and isn't that agile. He doesn't get hit by everything, but he does get touched up.

Matts isn't a defensive wizard himself, but he is a pressure fighter which means he's supposed to get hit more often. I think he makes good use of the peek-a-boo. He'll open up his gloves and take the sting off of incoming shots, and when he throws, he's able to get his hands back to defensive position pretty quickly. Similar to Garcia, his objective is not to make the opponent completely miss, it's to force the opponent to plant their feet and commit/engage so then he can take advantage. There's a moment in the 2nd round against Soto where he cuts off the ring, hits Soto with a straight right which backs him into a corner, Soto throws a long combination and Matts is able to block/deflect everything and land a nice left hook in between.

Both guys get hit enough (and land enough) that I can't see how this fight goes 12. If Matts fights with the same intensity as in his last few fights, it just can't go 12.

                • It is believed that all the trash talking by Angel and other facts surrounding this fight have not had any effects on the fighters, but it doesn't seem to be the case.

Lucas really didn't understand a word Angel was saying during the arrivals and the press conference, but later he and his team learnt about that and were very upset. Arano said that "the truth is his son will pay for it. We don't mind if they talk nonsense to promote the fight, but in this case he offended the Argentinians and this is very rude".

Lucas was not immune. "It bothers me a bit. We knew he (Angel) is arrogant... His insults are typical of a ****** man... He was disrespectful towards my country and this Saturday I'm going to make him eat his words".

At the same time, Danny seems to be very upset because of his underdog status. When an Argentinian reporter asked him for an interview, he was cold: "I don't speak Spanish. Ask me in English". He looked surprised when the interviewer from La Nación --a conservative, sober newspaper (the newspaper Pope Francis reads)--, compared him with Frazer, Briscoe and Hopkins. Danny said that this fight "is not the most important of my career" and Matthysse "is not at the same level of other fighters I beat". He didn't even say goodbye or shake hands. The writer (like other media here) highlights how Floyd took distance from the xenophobic statements from Angel and said "I love Argentina".
