Comments Thread For: Mayweather: Cotto a Stronger, Better Fighter Than Canelo

Pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26KOs) has questioned the high popularity, and the ability, of his next opponent, WBC/WBA 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs). Their fight happens at a catch-weight of 152-pounds on September 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Mayweather also feels former three division champion Miguel Cotto is a better fighter than Canelo. In his last fight at 154, last May, Mayweather won a tough decision over Cotto in Las Vegas. Cotto was then beaten by Autsin Trout by way of a lopsided decision, and then Canelo decisioned Trout in April. But, styles make fights.

Trout won a "lopsided" decision over Cotto? I must have missed that fight. The Cotto-Trout Fight I watched was close. Either way, Mayweather will lose. He's just a runner witha big mouth.

yet you're fighting Canelo at 152.

Log Off Mayweather. You knew Cotto was finished and a gatekeeper thats why you fought him at 154. You even went on to say he was actually second prime'd and undefeated.

              Delusional fraud

We have 2 of the biggest names in the sport in the ring. Do we really care that much about the weight. I'm just glad the fight is happening.

You know mayweather has every right to think that becuz he fought him,and at this point cotto has foughtvthe best opposition to this point, but cotto is an undersized jr middlweightand i doubt that cotto is stronger then canelo..floyd is in serious troublin this fight, not saying he is gonna lose but this is truly his biggest test since de la hoya...to me he has thw skills of castillo with pressure and body punchg w ith a good uppercut, and de la hoya qith good speed and combination punching, and he has good defence so this fight right here will define his career and cement his place as an all time great!!!cant wait...and i had trout winning 8-4 over cotto so thats kind of a landslide..
