No, it isn't. Tyson's 'era' was clearly pre-prison. He peaked very very early for a HW thats well documented. He was pushing 15 stone at 13 and had an flawless junior olympic record.

You tell me who was better (80's - mid 90's). And if you give me Holyfield then your trolling.

That says it all, the level of opposition may not have been VK's fault but to suggest his "Resume" is better (than the above mentioned) because he beat what was in front of him (even if they were the best at the time, and both were poor in the grand scheme of things) is laughable.

    Back to the garden.

      this ^

Vitali's resume and his H2H ranking are very different IMO.

Vitali's resume is not in top10, maybe not even in top15, but H2H I have prime Vitali in top5 for sure.

      IMO:

      Ali beats him 8-9/10 times
      Lennox or Wlad 6/10 times
      Foreman 5/10

No other fighter I would favor over prime Vitali. As for prime Tyson I would give Tyson a better chance of beating Wlad or Lennox. Vitali is both taller, bigger and has a much better chin. He would have 8-9" over tyson.

Prime for prime Tyson-vitali is 50:50 in my book.

Yeah and remind who was winning in that fight until his injury?

Vitali is a very good fighter and has been one of the best HW's after Lewis' retirement.

Luckily he can live comfortably for the rest of his life , unlike many other boxers.

With that said, let's not get carried away.

The fact that he was ahead on all scorecards before the TKO he suffered against Lewis doesn't actually prove much in terms of ATG ranking, be it resume or h2h -wise.

He fought a fat, over the hill version of Lennox Lewis, if Vitali is an ATG because of that fight , then Berbick and McBride are also ATG's , along with Sanders and McCall (who, in spite of personal troubles, has victories over Lewis and Holmes).

You are quite right, Vitali successfully (before the injury) pawed Byrd to death in that fight. And lets not forget, not only was Byrd a late replacement, he was giving away over 2 stone and 7 inches in height.

And go watch the fight again, Byrd may have unsuccessful in his offence but he was slippng and weaving VK's punches without too much difficulty. Tyson would have destroyed Klitschko, he even struggled with Byrds flurries at times but Byrd had no power.

yeah injured vitali did 'struggled' in the way he could have slept for the rest of the fight and he would still win it.

Should I remind you what happens when Tyson struggles?

Prime Vitali got mashed against old Lewis, people claiming he's top 5 H2H are dreaming.

He was made to look very inefficient by a small heavyweight, not a good look for a supposed head-to-head monster.
