It's still a very, very tough fight for Martinez that he could lose. Lesser fighters than Golovkin have effectively used the jab and made things hard on the best Sergio at middleweight.

I still want to see more of Golovkin before confidently picking what would happen with him against prime Martinez.

Sergio Martinez doesn't have good punch resistance. No matter what version you have seen, he has always had a suspect chin. So that alone tells me he has no chance of beating Golovkin, unless he catches him with a big punch and hurts/KO's Gennady.

sergio looked vulnerable against guys like barker and macklin (golovkin obliterated him and would obliterate barker)..chavez jr was just a walking punching bag, barely threw...golovkin would have beaten any version of sergio...

He was meant to struggle, many picked Chavez to win.

Then Sergio bossed it for 11 rounds.

really? cause i remember a lot of people on here (at least) were easily picking martinez to school chavez jr...

72 people were picking chavez jr to win
203 were picking martinez to win
          2 draw

When Genady beats Martinez many will say it's because it's not 'the same Martinez' and the talk about how 'prime Martinez' would do better will remain.
That's why I prefer Genady fights other prime best fighters. I like Andre - GGG in year or two. That's the fight that will show how great GGG really is. Whatever else he does people won't give him a full credit.
I agree. But that's boxing and we all know time was never on Sergios hands and he holds lineage (as far as i remember) so when he's beat, no matter his injuries or age it's still going to matter.

But yeah, I honestly dont think the GGG fight will ever happen. I personally feel GGG is better off going for the young champs and going up once. Not sure if he makes it to Ward in time before ward moves up though but we'll see. Not just that but i think Sergio should come back at 154 or a catchweight fight. Maybe round off with the canelo-mayweather winner (more feasible if Canelo wins) or with the loser.

Sergio's injuries and age in combination with his heart and toughness might start working against him now with these bigger guys. He doesnt have anything left to prove and I aint even mad if he has two soft touches and retires. For GGG's sake I wish he'd keep the lineage going as hes the goods, but we'll see

I'll refrain from answering this question until Golovkin faces a good boxer, and no...Rosado is very much overrated; not that good. Someone like Lara in my opinion, I'd pick Golovkin to win that impressively but I want to see how he handles that kind of movement.
I dont think anybody has ever rated rosado as anything more than a contender lara gets way more hype than rosado ever has.

That was a stunning performance, if that Sergio turns up and his body doesn't fail him, does he beat GGG?

                I think so.

That performance was immense how he wrecked Chavez Jr inside, peppering him to death with uppercuts, had him backing up. Man Sergio in his prime was immense.

Guys jab was mother fawkin siiiick! Really faded against Murray
it was a great performance from sergio but if fatso can put him down and almost have him out GGG certainly would.

I think the Martinez that showed up against Chavez Jr. would still lose to GGG, but he wouldn't catch as bad of a beating.

This, I voted destroys only because it was the only option where Martinez wins. A 100% fit focused Sergio of 2010 would beat GGG by close competitive but clear UD IMO. Ouma gave Golovkin a good fight (I know he was KO'd) Sergio's athleticism angles and movement would win it I think...

Unfortunately Maravilla vs Golovkin now would most likely be a brutal knockout... It's a shame I hate seeing my favourite fighters go out like that, like Ali-Holmes or Duran-Joppy

Ouma is nothing like Martinez, he's an iron chinned swarmer with little power. Tht was year back anyway, he gave him less trouble than Macklin gave Sergio, at a very steep cost
