Rodriguez is scheduled to face Grachev in two weeks at 171.5. He could lose, get injured, etc. How could he get ordered to fight someone, let alone make a deal before July 10 and he fights on July 13.

What does it matter if Rodriguez loses at LH? Does that affect the rankings at a lower weight?

All the fighters above Groves on the rankings are occupied. Edwin, and Lucian, have fights planned and I'm sure after that draw with Ward's sparring partner Gonzales, Thomas isn't lining up for a massacre. You got to remember Froch hasn't had a mandatory obligation since he won the belt off Bute, so this had to come sooner or later.

Rodriguez has a fight planned in July, this bout with Froch is months away.

I don't want to see Groves v Froch, GG will get destroyed. It's a waste of date late in Froch's career. I'm not even certain GG would beat Mack who went 8 rds with Cloud.

Both Rodriguez and Bute already got fight lined up, as for Oosth he just got a draw in his last figth so maybe he got dropped a bit in the ranking and it's just not updated yet. What about Stevenson though, he was the number 1 when the IBF gave Froch an extension for an unification yet the number 1 spot is "not rated" . What with that? Just because he fougth at LH in his last fight? He fougth in the SMW division in the last year, shouldn't he still be there? I really don't understand ranking sometime.

I think that's b/s though. Rodriguez has been waiting his whole career for a fight like this and it won't be until November/December anyway. What determines the cut-off date?

I think you get removed from the rankings if you have a belt. I know this is the case in a single weight class, you can't be a ranked IBF contender and hold a WBO belt at 154 for example, but probably true in general

Oosthuizen was offered the froch fight late last year but pulled out so we got mack instead, he also looked rubbish this weekend. Rodriguez has a scheduled date and will be offered a mando spot if he wins, it's that simple.

Froch vs Groves will sell out the O2 and is easy to make, it will happen like it or not
