Rigo i feel needs to create a persona outside the ring or take more risk to make himself more marketable. I see it like this, Mayweather, was formally known as Pretty Boy Floyd for sticking to that hit and don't get hit style; his skill is wat made him known to some people but his "Money" persona of being this Tony montana bad guy catipulted his populairty> Marquez was a pure textbook boxer which didnt not get much recogniction unlike morales and MAB during that time, he change up his style by being more agressive and as a result, has seen his ppv go up.
rigo, is exceptionally talented, but he needs to appeal to the casual fans for him to be relevent.

BTW, I predicted this problem for Rigo.

Mayweather is one of the most boring fighters in history of the world , and he is still PPV super star !

Rigondeaux is more talented , funnier when he talks and a better person out of the ring .

his only downside is not being American or Mexican .

He just needs good promotion .

Rigondeaux along with the other Cubans need to be promote it, simple, he doesn't need to hit his wife or go to jail, he needs to headline a card here in Miami and you will see how many go to the event, Cubans take that kind of event to party, that's what we do, we don't go to Vegas to do it but if you bring Vegas to us, we will fill the place...

its not just cubans fans promoters are targeting, its fight fans in general. How are you gonna generate more fans, by reaching a wider demographic, more fans = more money. Rigo needs to crossover from being an amateur (points player) to a pro (entertainmenter).

This is the difference between boxing promoters and mma promoters..

Boxing if you are not the right nationality then you wont get the hype , in the ufc they make guys fight regardless of nationality.. hell the top guys are american, brazilian, and canadian, and they make them fight top contenders regardless if they are marketable and can speak english.. It's about how well you fight that matters.. yes a chael sonnen and talk his way into fights, but thats not the norm...

Boxing would be much better off by giving us the fights people want to see, regardless if one guy is marketable or not....

I wish that were the case. best fight the best. but everything is generated through hype. If you have a wide fan base, you get the shot because you bring the most money. You get the hype cause your marketable. Im not totally correct but its like that.

true, but I think rigo is more exciting than Floyd, and more exciting than ppl claim. rigo is an explosive fighter who landed tons of massive bombs on nonito. he messed up donaure bad, amidst almistgot him in the final round.

Well then, his career is basically over, because people in his weight division don't want to fight him.
