  • Comments Thread For: Mayweather Says a Knockout of Canelo Can Happen

Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26KOs) does not ruke out the possibility of ending his fight with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs) by knockout. Mayweather challenges Canelo for the WBC/WBA junior middleweight titles on September 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mayweather blames the opponents for his recent run of decision victories. When boxers come to fight, like Ricky Hatton, Mayweather feels that he can knock them out. But he says other opponents come to the ring with the strategy of surviving and going the distance, which makes it difficult to knock them out.

Floyd doesn't mind coasting so long as the victory is in his hands but if Canelo tires the way he did against Trout and Mayweather brings that killer instinct, Mayweather may not get the stoppage but Canelo could take a serious beating.

I don't know. Take a fighter that gasses early, add in the fact that they'll be drained also, and against a puncher as quick and accurate as Mayweather and a TKO Stoppage isn't beyond the realms of possibility. In fact, it's entirely feasible.

I'm sure when Floyd said KO, he didn't mean a one-punch knock out.
